Just another rich white guy.
This is the attitude from a friend of mine, who does not like Bush, but is somewhat apathetic. "Same shit. Different asshole." An attitude that can sadly not be fixed this late in the game.

4. Washington, Lincoln, FDR ...

They were all just another "rich white guy."

I have no respect for the culture of the uninvolved. I'm quickly moving to openly detesting it and letting people know just how deep my lack of respect for them is for thinking this way.

A friend of mine, a good liberal who has been beaten down by the rhetoric, started to embrace it in recent months. I turned the heat up to incinerate on him, and he has come around. It can be overcome, but it takes a lot of effort.

5. I like your Jimmy Carter quote.
He still fights the good fight after all these years.

8. Carter is my hero ...

I have admired that man since I was a little boy. I was crushed, at the tender age of 11, when he lost to Reagan, and I've followed his life ever since.

I was so happy he was asked to speak at the convention after so many years of Democrats shunning him and his so-called "loser" aura. I thought he gave a knock-out speech, more in line with the Carter I knew and loved. He is and always has been a moral, hard-nosed fighter, and his words inspire me.

10. Carter's time will come someday, unfortunately.
And when it does, he deserves twice the ceremony Reagan had.

I guess in my naive prepubescent little Canadian way in the seventies, I admired him for his honesty. I mean, what other president can you imagine admitting that he lusted after other women or that he'd actually seen a UFO?

Looks silly as I type it out, but I have great respect for the man.

Happy belated 80th birthday, Mr. President!

14. Carter was the most decent, the most gentlemanly president in my
lifetime. His ideas did not succeed but he was someone you
could trust.

9. "Same shit. Different asshole."
This is a cop out and relives them from having to pay attention. It's along the same line as Bush's making decisions based on gut instinct, it relives him from actually having to think about an issue.

either of them. Just give her/him some printed articles and policy points. Tell her to get informed and use the right to vote. Use it or lose it.

15. Tell your friend
about the time in Kerry's life when he was basically poor. I think I read it on Kerry's website and he one point in his lifetime didn't have any money and he was living with friends and his ex-wife didn't support him but he still worked and supported him self and rose up. When he married THK didn't he marry into the wealth?

18. Tell your friend
the people of Iraq thank her for her consideration. The dead US military and Iraqi civilians must really be impressed by her concern

The future dead in Syria and Iran are probably appreciative of her as well.

Tell your friend to get over herself and realize that the winner of this election will make a difference in the world. Which way does she want it to go.

Jeez - horrible things are being done in the name of the US right now - she doesn't care about that?

19. Tell your friend that his apathy may look cool, but
is just stupid (and pleases Bush). Everyone who knows anything about this, knows that the difference is big, and that whatever the size of the difference - supporting the best candidate is the best you can do.
