71. This Poll is BIASED - don't let this B.S. slide past
You're all patting yourselves on the back. "We DU'ed another poll!" without realizing you're doing the Bush campaign a favor. This poll has obvious bias built into it, and now you're giving them a sound bite that lets them confirm Kerry as a flip flopper.

Here is my letter to MSNBC complaining about their biased poll.

More and more often I'm disappointed with the quality of journalism provided by MSNBC.
From the MSNBC poll regarding built in bias in your questions.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6144520/site/newsweek/

"Over his 19-year career in the U.S. Senate, John Kerry has changed his position on a number of issues. From what you know about Kerry, why do you think this is?"

What issues might those be? You're poll already assumes the Bush campaign spin that John Kerry is a "flip flopper", which I must protest in the strongest terms possible. What is worse, you don't afford the respondent the opportunty to respond that they don't believe John Kerry has in fact changed his opinion.

Kerry changes his position as circumstances change
Kerry changes his position to help him win an election
Don't know

There is no option for "Kerry is consistent in his positions and message"

"How do you think Bush administration policies and diplomatic efforts have affected the way people in other countries feel about the United States?"

This question opens the assumption that the Bush administration has not actually caused a drop in world opinion. This is an indisputable fact, based on any polling data or metric you care to evaluate. Yet you've decided to leave it open to interpretation? Why?

Improved America's image around the world 5% 10%
Led to more anti-Americanism around the world 85% 60%
Haven't had much effect either way 9% 24%

On one hand, you peg Kerry a flip flopper. On the other, you allow Bush to be perceived as possibly having improved world opinions of the United States?

Does anyone at MSNBC even sanity check these polls before they are released?

65. the question says "a number of issues"...
then asks for a broad opinion about the origins of his decisions.
That's pretty loaded and makes the answer completely subjective.

40. There are, unfortunately, some people who. for reasons
unknown, or pure cussedness, either don't even know if they are alive or will vote contrarian for the pure hell of it. Why would someone release a virus on the internet whose sole purpose is to cause grief, pain and loss to millions of innocents? There are some dull, vile people in the world, as well as some people who would hurt and kill, just because they want to.

61. "Kerry has changed his position on a number of issues"
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 11:53 AM by SoCalDemocrat
From the MSNBC poll:

"Over his 19-year career in the U.S. Senate, John Kerry has changed his position on a number of issues. From what you know about Kerry, why do you think this is?"

What issues might those be? If we can't come up with them, we need to blast MSNBC to defend that or amend that statement, because I don't believe it's accurate. In fact, I think it's a bullshit question that's trying to paint Kerry as a flip flopper.

Kerry changes his position as circumstances change

Kerry changes his position to help him win an election

Don't know

There is no option for "This question is B.S., Kerry is consistent."

By the way I responded "Don't know" and I encourage the rest of you to do the same. Otherwise MSNBC WILL use this point in this poll to paint Kerry again as a flip flopper. If you select either of the first two options, it's affirming their bullshit premise.

Why does this Bush statement say:
How do you think Bush administration policies and diplomatic efforts have affected the way people in other countries feel about the United States?

Instead of Bush administration policies and diplomatic efforts have adversely affected the way people in other countries feel about the United States. How badly do you think this has hurt the U.S. abroad?

The poll author assumes Kerry is a flip flopper, which is an unsubstantiated opinion. However, they don't assume that Bush has caused world opinion to slide, which is a known fact.

70. @@@@@@@@ Multiple votes - Here's how
don't frget that thes polls use cookies to tell your computer that you have voted already....

so if you log off the current user and log in as Amdministrator or guest or another Username that you have (or have created :) ) then when you come back to the poll it will come up blank and you can have another opportunity to let your voice heard...

just a thought....
