Republicans Haven't Won A National (Presidential) Election Since 1988
When it comes to the popular vote (and I recognize the 2000 question, but this post isn't about that), the Republican Party has not won a national election since 1988. And with the latest Newsweek Poll showing Shrub thrashing about in the mid-40s, it doesn't look like they're going to win it again this year either.

Want to know why Bush and his handlers are lying like Satan's love interest in an exorcism movie? Easy. Beneath all the BS they know that this country has not given them a presidential victory since Poppy's race-baiting campaign in 1988. In other words, the GOP leadership knows they cannot run a legitimate issues oriented campaign and win this election. That is why all we can expect to see from them from now until November 2nd is a torrent of lies.

The GOP is the minority party. If we thump Bush and the organization that runs him next month we could continue a roll that started 12 years ago and will not end for a long long time. We have the votes, we just need to pull it all together and get the job done.

5. people here won't refer to themselves as liberals
but if you look at specific policies a majority or plurality usually favor the "liberal" position on just about every domestic issue.

6. The Measure I Use Is The Amount Of GDP Devoted To The Government
I think in the US it's around 20%...

No other industrialized nation spends so little money on funding their government...
