and disengaged voters.
Just a suggestion. . .
Several times over the last week, when people have said , "I don't like either one of them (Bush or Kerry), and they've started rattling on about Skull & Bones etc., I have said, "the fundamental difference is that Kerry has both a conscience and an intellect, and Bush has neither."
It was as though a light bulb became illuminated over their heads, and their eyes lit up, all except for one of them.
Only one out of 7 people I said it to, continued to look unconvinced so I furthered, "all Bush is able to do sucessfully is to pretend that he has good intensions. and we all know where that road leads." That got to him.
Try it if need be.
It seemed to work for me anyhow.

I remember when I was watching one of the primaries while in a public place, and I was talking with a friend about how important this election was. He responded that he didn't really care about the election, because according to him the world would go on in some form or another regardless of who is President.
If these debates don't highlight the importance of the Presidency, then the American public does have more serious problems than this one almost-end-all contest.

I've come across that attitude as well. The apathetic have no clue over what is at stake or what we've lost over the last four years. The degree of disempowerment amongst the general population is truly disheartening and threatens the nature of our democracy.
