A Biblical admonition about the war in Iraq... |
|
"Violence begets violence."
Violence does not beget freedom. Violence does not beget democracy. For all the so-called Christians that are waving their rifles over their heads and shouting war slogans, perhaps they should open the Book of their faith.
George W Bush, an avowed Christian, believes we must "kill" all the terrorists, even the ones he is creating with his own personal war. But he is not in agreement with the Biblical teachings.

6. yes, I find it amusing how they pick and choose what to |
|
follow and believe. I often debate so-called christians (actually fundies)by using the Bible. They will always say "thats Old Testament" as if it doesn't apply. I then ask if people should follow the Ten Commandments. Of course they say yes, and then get a really stupid look on their face when they realize they have contradicted themselves.

7. While the Bible has some lovely verses... |
|
it also contains some pretty barbaric stuff, which isn't really surprising since the OT is a book of stories passed down by a tribe that lived thousands of years ago. It's time to evolve. I also think the Christians have distorted the Hebrew God for their own ends.
It's time the superstitious and often brutal tribal mentality of the OT is 'Left Behind' and that we strive for that world of peace, love and compassion that Jesus, and the Buddha, who lived 300 years before him, envisioned. Hey, but I'm just a heathen who's going to burn in hell.

9. I think it's beneficial just as a reminder... |
|
to those that profess Jesus as their Savior. But not as a guide to any political agenda.
