I met a democrat who was (WAS) actually voting for Bush |
|
I went to a co-worker's house last night for a few beers and one of her friends came over to join us. My co-worker, by her own admission, isn't really into politics, but I have dutifully brought her into the fold by sharing things with her. She is of the opinion that Bush is a dumbass, and she is going to vote for Kerry. That being said, last night her friend COMPLETELY OUT OF THE BLUE says, "So I watched that debate the other night." Now my ears are perking up, because I know many of my friend's buddies are right-wingers. I asked her what she thought, and she said that she was going to vote for Bush, but after watching the debate she is planning on voting for Kerry. This girl doesn't know me from Adam and had no reason to try to win favor with this statement, so I asked her to tell me more. She said she voted for Gore in 2000, had planned on voting for Bush because she "didn't trust Kerry." We know that is the typical spin on Kerry that has been fed to the masses, so I asked her why she didn't trust Kerry. She said she didn't really know much about him because she's "not very political" so that's why she watched the debates. I asked her what she thought about Bush after the debate and she responded that she didn't really pay attention to him because she was more interested what Kerry had to say. She said his plans made sense, and that he spoke passionately and was very informed.
This is an excellent sign, in my opinion. The county in Florida where we all reside is VERY red. To hear this girl (whose husband isn't even registered to vote) say that she was convinced to vote for Kerry ONCE SHE SAW THE DEBATE is music to my ears!!!! Of course my husband, Clark4Prez, went to work on the husband who isn't registered, and his wife is adamant that she will get him registered before the deadline.
Good things coming from the debate, y'all.

1. She is able to discern truth and heartfelt speech from BS, |
|
subterfuge and imperfect facts. Score one for her. A whole lot of people got to see.... how do they say it?
Oh yeah... "Can you see the real me me me me me me me me me?" Roger Daltrey
Yeah george... we saw the real you.

2. 62.5 million people watched that debate. |
|
There are going to be a lot of other people who went through this thought process.

That was one of my thoughts, though you stated it better than my rambling story did. Millions of people watched those debates... how many of these stories WON'T we hear? How many people were going to vote for Bush because he's "the devil ya know?" It's a real boost to hear that the exposure Kerry received is effectively making people THINK!!!!

4. I see things happening this year that I've never seen. Folks are crawling |

out of their stupor. I love it when we wake up and slay the demon evil spawn of devil worshippers.

6. It's really scary that she didn't pay attention to Bush. |
|
How else will you ever know that he is a dip stick if you don't pay attention? How do you know if he is lying if you don't pay attention. I guess this explains why so many can be Bush supporters: They just aren't paying attention.

7. An excellent example of how rational, intelligent people |
|
will respond when they evaluate the situation without the media pundit filter. The media is our biggest problem. I cannot understand how Democrats couldn't have seen this as a problem when they went along with the Telecommunications Act of 1995 that caused so many big media mergers.

I wonder if Clinton is kicking himself and what are we gonna do about it?
Sounds like Kerry plans to do SOMETHING about and that's why the corporates are running scared like COCKROACHES!:)
