The people just have to be reminded though. Because in order for the media to protect Bush from the facts, it has to twist reality.
I mean, the opposite position to Dean's position of having to justify bombing and invading another country would be that it doesn't matter whether we are right to do it or not. Is that the Bush administration's position, or not? If not, then what is it? I think if you asked them you'd find that the Bush position is probably the same as the Dean position. They don't want to abide by their own position, no doubt, but their stated position can't really be any different than what Blitzer is making Howard Dean justify right now on TV to waste time. Dean is being forced to justify the obvious, even though I'm pretty sure the Bush Administration's position is not that you don't have to justify. If you didn't need to justify, why did Colin Powell bother to go to the UN and give the grand justification speech? Because the Bush admimistration's position is exactly the same as Howard Dean's position (And John Kerry's, too) So what are we really arguing about here?
I don't think the Bush position is we do whatever we want, too bad if it's wrong. But the media wants to stay in this area of mindless debate, because to argue about whether Bush is an incompetent liar, unqualified for office is a debate Bush loses, so the media doesn't want to go there. And they won't go there, even though that is the John Kerry position, that Bush is an incompetent boob!!!
But the media would rather hide Kerry as much as humanly possible, rather than discuss Kerry's real point. Kerry, who's trying to make that claim, THAT BUSH IS A BOOB, makes a really good argument, but the media is afraid of presenting that argument. John Kerry is hidden as much as possible, instead. This will happen after the third debate, as well! The media will change the subject from reality.
If Bush's competence becomes the topic, which it should be, and which Kerry is now saying loudly, Bush loses the debate more likely than not, so the media just want to obfuscate and trash Kerry on made-up things instead. That's the only chance they have. They and their pals in the media know this. Let's beat them anyway!!!
As the magistrate here at DU is prone to say: LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!
