Repubs want Cheney to carry Bush's water in his debate with Edwards... |
|
They want Cheney to make all the points against Kerry that Bush was not able to make. But Edwards is no Lieberman. I would be surprised if Cheney were able to make any points without being challenged. And Edwards will not hesitate to point out the rewards to Halliburton - unless that was one of the points that was disallowed from discussing?

|
I haven't read it. But I wouldn't be surprised.

5. No, no, please don't fall for... |
|
... the "this is not a real debate" routine. That's nothing more than spin that plays right into the repugs' hands.
This is a huge opportunity for Edwards to connect -- unfiltered -- with millions and millions of Americans. We saw Thursday night just what a powerful opportunity that can be!

7. Edwards has handled people like Cheney before...he'll keep |
|
Cheney on the defensive concerning Halliburton, Lies about WMD, lies about 911/Saddam Bin Laden, etc.
We should not be worried at all.

3. I have the same question |
|
Nothing I've seen in the debate contract says anything about topics bing off-limits: http://www.johnkerry.com/pdf/pr_2004_0920b.pdfIt may be that the moderator won't (for whatever reason) specifically ASK about Halliburton. But Edwards is free to bring it up whenever and however he wants, as far as I know.

Maybe a gentleman's agreement that Edwards won't touch Halliburton if Cheney doesn't touch trial lawyer stuff?

8. cheney/edwards debate will be nationally televised, therefore |
|
edwards has an opportunity to clear up the "global test"-turned-bush-propaganda weapon, by stating:
'kerry was being respectful of the president by not saying 'it must pass the "smell test".' (*)reasons given to the american people and to the world, to justify this war, just plain smell!
during the debate, bush, himself, stated: "As a matter of fact, this is a global effort."'
(*kerry did not have access to the full extent of intelligence bush was privy to, nor, more precisely, to intelligence bush chose to ignore.)
