When will Limbaugh/Hannity start jumping ship?
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 03:44 PM by JohnnyCougar
Their credibility rests with Bush getting re-elected. If Bush goes down in flames, however, they will look like jackasses, and they know it. Especially if this administration gets prosecuted for war crimes and such in the aftermath. My guess is that they will do everything in their power to get Bush re-elected, but if it looks hopeless, they will jump ship to save their credibility and probably endorse Badnarik or Preoutka. Any thoughts?

On edit: I am specifically talking about the "W" ship, not the broader RW propaganda ship! I think there is a point where carrying W's baggage will be burdensome for the RW.

1. Never. That would take some decency, integrity, and intelligence.
There's not one shred of evidence that these two have any.

11. I don't think it would take decency and intelligence.
I think if they were true cowards like they are, they will bail out on their leader if they are certain he is going down.

It's only the nature of the coward.

4. Bimpbaugh, at least will enjoy being the leader of the opposition
How many books did he sell during the Clinton years? He'll be a very large frog with * out of the White House.

Handjobbity, on the other hand, is such a true-believer, he may just kill himself.

5. They won't change
Neither will their supporters. Their 'stock' rose in the Clinton years, so they'll go on as usual in the Kerry years. They'll just make up a lot more to b*tch and moan about.

There is always a market for RW babble.

Remember, RW radio grew huge during Clinton's term.

Though, a good example in history is a guy by the name of Rev. Billy Sunday. He was the Rush of the early radio era, but his career died when he came out in support of Adolf Hitler just prior to WWII. He quickly faded into obscurity.

But Rush and Hannity are two of the biggest guns in RW radio. Some of the small-time hosts may fizzle out over time, but the upper tier will be tormenting us for years to come.

Besides, those guys are always in denial of any wrong. They are the ultimate cheerleaders for the RW.

13. I know they won't bail out on RW propaganda
but when will they start bailing on W in particular. Like saying he is "not a true conservative"...he didn't really represent the party, etc. If it gets bad, I can see them saying that.

18. They'll ride him till the bitter end
Though I do remember Rush starting to jump off Poppy's ship back in 1992, prior to the election, when he started fading fast in the polls. This was brief, and he even had Poppy in the studio within a week of the election.

He won't bail on Dubya. He's the dream conservative for these guys. Rush thought Poppy wasn't conservative enough, and earlier supported Buchanan in the primaries.

8. Jump ship?
Rush made MILLIONS with his Clinton hate radio back in the day.
Kerry would be a windfall for Rush's bank account and ratings.
This about it WTF has he to talk about if Shrub got 4 more years?

Hannity is Rush's mini-me.

Him jumping ship would be as probable as Howard Stern becoming a Christan Evangelist.

And it's up to us to prevent it from working. Their echo chamber and ditto head listeners are genuinely unpatriotic in my view.

15. Limbaugh was around when Poppy Bush went down
He was asked at the time what he would do. As we all know now, Limbaugh spent the next eight years trying to bring Clinton down.

They will do the same, take my word for it.

17. Limbaugh's reaction to Clinton's election in '92
was to say, "I told you so." Supposedly, he predicted Clinton would win if Republicans didn't take his warnings about how they were handling the campaign seriously. So I fully expect that somehow, he will be RIGHT when Kerry wins, too.

21. Limbaugh predicted George Sr. would win by a landslide
He made the prediction of the big Bush win the day before the election. When Sr. lost Limbaugh said, "I told you so."

29. That's exactly how I remember it, too!
I used to listen thinking I was staying abreast of what the opposition is thinking. The last day I listened was the day after Clinton won. I was so disgusted with his "I-told-you-so" attitude that I realized there was no point in ever listening to such a scumbag liar again!

20. Never
Their audience, namely devout Republicans, will be looking for comfort more than ever. Many Republican ideas can't hold together without the media constantly stoking the fires and helping to keep the party faithful well programmed. Afterall, something like preemptive wars goes so much against the grain of what Americans have stood for for so long that only constant barrages from the likes of Fox News Channel and Limbaugh could possibly comfort Republicans enough to support it.

If they loose the White House they will be on the emotional rebound and looking for someone to cling on to. I predict that Fox viewership will actually go up even more than it is now.

arrogant to admit he is wrong. Sound familiar?
Probably why he admires the Dim Son so much.

Limbaugh can just blame everything on his latest
addiction of choice...whatever that is.

28. They'll be more popular with Kerry in office
Limpballs had the most to do when Clinton was in office to rag on. In fact, when Smirk was elected, I thought he might fade away, since he could only then be a cheerleader for Smirk.
