"Cheat Sheet Gate"! Bush had prepared notes...
As freepers are hard at work trying to get the media to carry a story that kerry took something out of his pocket that "might have been" prepared notes, it's blatently obvious that bush did, in fact, have them.

I'm sure the debate coverage is on the internet somewhere, but i recorded it on cbs. About 37 minutes into it, lehrer asks kerry to "give us some examples of what you consider his 'not telling the truth'". while kerry is answering, it goes to split screen and shows bush flipping through at least 2 completely covered pages of very detailed written notes with some passages circled and lines or arrows pointing to other passages. also, the circles are very dark and appear to be done with a sharpie. i noticed this the 1st time but didn't think it was a big deal...

BUT, if the freepers can somehow MAKE it a big deal for us, then we need to lower the boom. if you recorded it, watch it again and see what i'm talking about.

2. I just re-watched my tape
Yep, he has several pages of notes and he's flipping them furiously at that point. I don't think it could be proven that he didn't write them himself during the course of the debate, but it does make one wonder, since we've seen his little cheat-sheets for press conferences.

OT: For a giggle, watch the debate on fast forward. I swear, Bush's quirky mouth and the tilt of his head is exactly like Dana Carvey doing the "Church Lady". All he needs is the raised eyebrow. :)

5. He Had A Sharpie, So If Notes Were Pen, He Brought Them In
You could HEAR Bush's sharpie... that sound is familiar to me.

11. i think it's HIGHLY unlikely...
that he had 2 complete pages of notes 30-35 mins into a debate, in which i only saw him write down anything once or twice at that point.

4. Even if KArl Rove wrote them out for Chimpy ...
It obviously didn't do him any good.

Kerry can mop the floor with Bush even with Bush cheating. Kerry is a real statesman.

6. If you look closely at the tape, you can see chimp unfold something
as he reaches the podium. We can only surmise that it's Rove-master's talking points. Amazing that even with the cheat-sheets, chimp was overwhelmed. What a total dolt!

7. REGARDLESS,,,, * should know the facts enough to answer ANY ?
Just because Kerry did good - whether or not he had prepared notes - doesn't excuse the fact W doesn't have a good enough grasp of reality to speak about his 'supposed' strong points.

this issue is a freaking joke just like those freepers who are trying to shift the blame from their loser.

8. I posted abt that in the ongoing debate thread when it happened..
I didn't tape it..but it clearly looked like he was flipping through
loose sheets of paper, not a note pad which I would have thought they would have been given to take notes on. I couldn't see what was written on them however.

I'm sure it's in his own handwriting though, whatever it is, so he could claim that they were notes he took during the debate.

9. talking points memo
I got the feeling during the debate that Bush was checking off talking points. Seemed whenever he had a subject that was a zinger he'd reach down and do a quick note/check. I may be wrong i dunno i dont have it taped.

Regardless of notes or whatever else, he got spanked because he's a moron. When will the freepers quit making excuses and admit the obvious?

10. After the debate Bush's notes were retreived
On C-Span, after they all left the stage a man went to Bush's podium and removed the notes and exited the stage in a hurry. I didn't see anyone removed anything from Kerry's podium. If anyone has it on tape, it's after the families all leave the stage.

12. You can watch it on the cspan video.
There are 2 videos on cspan. The one to watch is the second one listed "First Presidential Debate...Podium watch style" That's the one that shows both candidates split screen.

The paper shuffling occurrs at 37 mins 25 secs.

It's very hard to determine how many sheets there were. I think I saw 4.

http://www.c-span.org/

Follow the link. Look down the page just under FEARURED LINKS, and you'll see "Video/Audio", under that it says "recent Programs". Go down the list. The 4th one down is the debate podium style.

The page you are looking for might have been removed or had its name changed.

13. Shrub didn't understand the time light system!
I've watched this debate several times now, looking for different things. This last time, I realized he didn't understand that when the red light came on, it meant you had only 5 seconds left! Every time, he stopped as soon as the red light came on!!!

I do have to commend shrub on one thing. He actually used the word "vociferously"! I almost fell off my chair!!! I don't know if he understood what it meant, but that was a really BIG word for him!!!

22. Oh, please! Let him HAVE his notes. Next time just give him permission
to have a cheat sheet. And Kerry can volunteer to tie one hand behind his back. He will still fail. NOTHING can save that Chimp.

25. I thought they were allowed notes..
they just had to be approved and place on the podium beforehand.

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
