Are missing/stolen Kerry signs a problem where you are?
I was quite cheered this afternoon on my way home from refereeing a soccer game when I saw three signs at a prominent intersection. There were two Kerry/ Edwards/ Hoeffel signs and one Hoeffel sign. This is a big deal because I live in the middle of Freeperville, and have seen a grand total of three other K/E signs.

Two hours later, on a bright sunny afternoon, the only sign remaining is the Hoeffel sign. As they say, WTF?

3. It's a problem by me
in northeast PA. On my 25mi drive to work I've seen the Kerry/Edwards signs systematically defaced w/spray paint or stolen. The owners have replaced most of them, but now they are on their porches or close to the house rather than near the road. That's repug thinking for you: we don't agree with it, so vandalization/theft is ok.

5. Same here in Roanoke Valley of Virginia
I've been volunteering at the Dems office and people come in to get replacement signs for those stolen. Some of the people are livid! You know, that might be a good thing because these people tell their relatives and it gets them steamed and determined to vote the SOB out of office. Maybe it will have a domino effect. And then there are all of the relatives of our military personnel who are also dissatisfied. We've had several articles in the local paper about stolen signs.

I guess those who are stealing them have as one of their damn values they are always harping on...Thou shalt steal Kerry/Edwards signs.

6. Get more and put those babies back up!!
You must be close to me in Berks County. We used to live in Harleysville (Montgomery County) and from what I hear it's even more freepy there than here. What I was thinking of doing is attaching a little sticky-note to the signs and say "for every time you steal this sign, I will put it back up again and donate $10 to the DNC". And since where I am we're supposed to pay $5 for each sign I say all the better. The $ is all going to the DNC anyway so the more they steal, the more it'll help Kerry.

Go get some more Kerry signs and put them back up right away!!!

8. I live in western PA, Westmoreland county
Our first yard sign was stolen in less than 48 hours.

Then, someone tried to steal our 2nd yard sign in broad daylight. It was an adult couple with a young child in the back seat of the car.

Talk about family values.

If you get tired of seeing so many K/E signs and want to see some good old */Fyourself signs, come on over to Somerset County. (satire)

The two signs missing from here were taken in the middle of the afternoon.

9. Cheap solution at Walgreens
Get a $5 window motion detector. Ask a clerk if you can't find one...they are near the automotive section usually.

Easy to attach to a sign and the AAA batteries last for about a month. Nice LOUD sound when they are tampered with and they go off after motion is stopped. Good for freaking out a Rethug.

There are only Bush/Cheney signs. I'm the only one with a Kerry/Edwards bunpersticker. But of course, I live in Georgia.

We've had many complaints about signs being defaced or stolen. In an attempt of good will, I contacted the GOP office to see if they wanted to go together and make a statement in the newspaper saying that we would file charges against any one caught tampering with signs of either party. The sweet GOP lady said, "The Democrats are just getting desperate because they are running so far behind." I politely thanked her and told her that the conversation was over.

Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 09:17 PM by arewenotdemo
Get their licence plate numbers. This is a political civil war and it's not only theft but a violation of our freedom of speech.

This must be reported to the police and newspapers.

15. not yet, but
the gentleman from the democratic party HQ that dropped off my yard sign yesterday left me 4 of them saying "they've been disappearing all over town."

I've got one in front of my office and one in my house. 2 days and counting. And that's not bad for Lubbock, Tex.

16. In West Wilson Co. TN(heavy Repug) Most Kerry Signs
are being taken down- mine hasn't however- although on my street as soon as I put mine up the bc04 s started popping up like evil weeds. The county Rpug HQ is only 1/2 mile from here. What really strikes me is how many houses in this Repug area do not have BC04 signs- that is very telling to me.

However, the freepers around me are so scared that Bush signs are popping up everywhere. They are terrified. My area is totally lost.

19. Ours were stolen night before last
though the Feingold and "Support the Troops, Vote Bush Out" signs were left alone. We live on a rural road that has moderate traffic, and the signs had been up for a good two weeks or so. I have to place an order to get more signs - the local office won't have them for another week or more. :( DAMN, I'm mad about it x(
