This "Kerry Cheated" stuff is to cover Bush being busted on the earpiece..
Listen here:

http://nyc.indymedia.org/usermedia/audio/6/bush-let_me_finish.mp3

In the middle of a response, with a full 30 seconds left, he says as an aside, "let me finish" and continues his response. Now, who on earth could he be talking to?

Here's the website that caught it yesterday (as in a day before Drudge trots out the "Kerry cheated" nonsense):
http://bellaciao.org/en/article.php3?id_article=3562

Here's the funny part: without Drudge's "help", this story would have died on the vine as just another "oh those crazy left wingers" story. He doth protest too much...

1. More evidence
There have been other occasions of Bush being suspected of wearing an earpiece. Although these where not during a debate, they do show a pattern. There is also a photo of an odd buldge under his jacket.

2. I don't buy it. If he was prompted, he would have done much better.
The "let me finish" remark was likely directed at Jim Lehrer.

11. I agree - the earpiece claim makes us sound like irrational Freepers
Hasn't it occurred to anyone that if Bush had on an earpiece that was visible to a handful of DUers watching on television, one of the dozens of people in immediate proximity to him the night of the debate would have seen it as well?

Jeez. Get a grip people. Everything is not a massive conspiracy that no one but DUers can detect.

5. I don't buy that he was using an earpiece.
After that comment, Bush only spoke another 10-15 seconds. The middle light was still lit when he finished speaking.

13. I don't buy it either but there is one possible explanation ...
that makes sense:

He went into the debate and his earpiece malfunctioned after 20 minutes. Remember pundits saying he was doing well for the first half hour? (I didn't notice) He had to wing it after that.

ha ha

(No, I don't really believe any of it...)

6. Right -- Kerry cheated
No, Kerry didn't cheat; Bush, as has been his lifelong pattern, didn't bother to prepare, figured he'd pull an all-nighter, and get his standard life pass.

And why shouldn't he? He never had to study at Yale. Or at Harvard Business School. He never had to apply himself to any job -- Daddy just paid to get him set up, and Daddy's rich friends showed up with a pot full of money when it came time to bail him out. Or as governor of Texas, a largely ceremonial position. He just skated through on Daddy's money and influence all the way to the White House.

He got caught and caught badly in the first debate. It won't happen in the second debate. Kerry should be loaded for bear, because Bush won't look like such a doofus a second time.

7. But if B*sh cheated with an earpiece,
how come he sucked so bad anyhow? The whole point of cheating is so you can do better, not so you fall on your ass.

10. Part of WHY Bush sucked so bad may have been the earpiece...
Having seen most of his press conferences, I'm guessing Rove has two choices:

1.) Send him out with an earpiece and have him stammer his was through the debate...

2.) Send him out without an earpiece and watch him freeze like a deer in the headlights...

12. yes, I saw that but he was directing his remark at Jim Leher
Look, Bush didn't have an earpiece and Kerry didn't have a secret weapon. Bush is just an idiot and Kerry is a leader who can think on his feet.

17. That sounds too reasonable to get any media play
I think it's improbable that chimpy had an earpiece and I know that Kerry doesn't need to cheat, but if the repukes are going to play this game we may as well hurl back dirt to muddy the waters.

We ignored the swift boat liars because reasonable people figured that nobody would listen to their obvious lies and distortions, and look what happened. We can't underestimate the media's depth of dishonesty or the willingness of Americans to be fooled with flim-flam.

It wasn't until the CBS debacle occurred that people finally threw up their hands and started saying the hell with all the accusations and counter-accusations about Vietnam. Until then the swift boat liars were given a lot more respect than they deserved.

Sometimes we have to rebut with idiocy to disarm idiocy.

20. actually, Swift Boat Liars was a big flop
I just read a Zogby report about it and it hurt bush badly. Here are a few facts about it:

While 13 per cent of independent voters moved away from Kerry because of the ads, 20% moved away from bush. Nearly 49% of independents believed Kerry but only 16% believed bush.

The ad revved up the Dem base in a big way.

It was a loser for bushbaby all around.

And that is what I like so much about their silly schemes. They just end up shooting themselves in the foot. Fools.

14. It's a policy story to divert from the clock cleaning.
Maybe both of them are- if he had an earpiece, why did he tank so totally?

15. I think the whole story is better without the earpiece theory
I mean, seriously, he said "Let me finish" when NO ONE was rushing him and his time wasn't near being up. It was just damn ODD.

So let it hang out there, the odd thing that it is and let people make their own conclusions about his mental state.

Don't force them to make conclusions about ours.

That makes me feel better - the man with his finger on The Button hears voices when he's under stress. :scared:

16. Bush cheated when he interrupted
Bush cheated when he interrupted Kerry talking. Oddly enough, he interuppted Kerry to inform America that he keeps his daughters "leashed". Interuppting was against the rules, thus Bush cheated.
