Just spent the week with my repuke in-laws |
|
Thay are so disheartened with *, but won't vote for Kerry as they believe he's a tax & spend liberal-----I made several points that they could not disagree with, but they are still repukes that I think will vote Nader on the Ct ballot. What's funny is a friend of ours came to visit on a family dinner and slammed * soooo much when they were putting out the appetizers--he was so DU! (meaning he was informed and new the deal) They ignored him and I was like YEAH! These are good people and I really tried, but they won't vote dem--maybe Nader---still pisses me off more--my repuke bro-in law was so ignorant he said how he knew Iraq was fucked up but you have to look what Dubya "did for the country". My husband was like "WWWHHHHATTTT???"

Is the response I give to THAT canard. And I follow it with "Do you KNOW how much we're into the Chinese for?...Gazillions!" Jeez, we'll NEVER get out from under!

my entire family and my in-laws are all repubs; only my husband and I are Dems. Plus, we're very liberal dems. It's very stressful, and as much as you try to "work around it", it interferes with family relationships.

Yes, and NONE of our relatives have expressed the slightest doubt in *'s infallibility. They are Ann Coulter type repubs, it embarrasses me to say.

7. Maybe they'll come around |
|
my inlaws are lifelong repukes and had decided to vote Libertarian before the debate. But the debate changed his mind and he changed her mind and now they are voting for Kerry, their first Dem vote EVER (they are in their late 50s).
I still remember my father in law several years back saying he thinks Nixon got "a raw deal."
WTF??????
But hey they are voting Kerry and are solid on it. The war in Iraq has just pushed them over the edge. They are more like Pat Buchanan conservatives and disagree with the war vehemently.
So maybe there's hope. Get them Pat Buchanan's book "Where the Right Went Wrong." That put my in laws in Kerry territory and his performance in the debate sealed the deal.

8. send them John Eisenhower's letter... |
|
...that's floating around. He's endorsing Kerry, because Kerry is more conservative than Bush.

That's two fewer votes for Smirk. I have a couple of 'converts' like that myself....bettter than votes for Smirk.

11. Conservatives in my extended family know not to even |

bring up politics around me. I'm the liberal flame thrower who will chew them up and destroy them (without having a finger on a mute button). Politics is not discussed at family outings when I'm around. They know better. And I politely never give them the opportunity to share their ignorance. It must be love.

12. So Bush borrows billions from China for tax cuts |
|
...and that's "doing something for the country"?
Yeah, well. I've tried using that on my Reptilican parents to little avail. Haven't talked to them since the debate though....
