7. It's pretty subversive. The one they had on Edwards today was much
better. Even though, they painted him as "too ambitious." I can't believe this one on Kerry had Dole on there saying, "Well, there are Purple Hearts and there are Purple Hearts." Gawd, move on. You've denigrated the service of every person who has ever earned a Purple Heart enough already!

3. I am sure it is going to be negative
They will do what they did with Gore, it will start off in a neutral way, and then start to show him as an opportunist, as though that is bad

Wait tell they present the one on bush, it will present him as a regular guy, just one of the common folks

Let's see if my cynicism is correct or not

6. It's a Hit Job By Candy Crowley
the piece on AWOL is much more sugar coated. They conveniently leave out most if not all of boy Georgie's scandals in his political life.

11. This is so biased
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 11:58 PM by Robert Oak
I'm a bleeding heart liberal by definition and there is so much
BS out there on Kerry, total bias...
it even took me awhile to really cut through to realize Kerry
is a very good guy and deserves the job and besides I had a good
shot at my overall issues, nevermind getting rid of the neocons.

CNN should be ashamed at that profile.

14. I just read all your post, I agree it showed some things Kerry had to
deal with but what I saw was a man who delt with all of it and came out looking strong, great and able to handle the world. It was proof he is the man for the job, in spite of all the things you saw. It is just a matter of being a positive or negative person. I'm just say it was an hour of Kerry that Americans can see.

16. Was this the same one that CNN showed right before the Democratic
convention?

If yes, I thought that it was good. It showed a person that we should be proud to have as a President. A person with a sense of duty, a smart and articulate person. I remember when I watched it then - if this is the same program - I was thinking that if elected, we will finally have a president that we can be proud of.

17. It never really bothered me
When I saw it, it seemed pretty positive overall. I mean, it wasn't a hackjob. I was just taken aback by the enemies they had on who would make really nasty comments in passing but they didn't dominate the program or anything. To me, it was showing how he strikes different people.

20. MSNBC ran a good one last night
it's their "Time and Again" or "Headliners and Legends" series thing. It was fair, unlike the hachet piece that Candy Crowley did for CNN.

22. CNN had right-wing Boston radio host Howie Carr on it
That pretty much says it all for me. Whatever the show, whether it be CNN, MSNBC, or even Penn & Teller's Bullshit, whenever they resort to radio hacks who offer nothing but weak one-liners, they've admitted they ran out of anything to say.

25. In Howie Carr's case, it was working the Boston based media angle
They also had someone from a Lowell, MA newspaper (Lowell Sun), which ran massively negative articles and editorials for Mr. Kerry's 1972 campaign. In the case of the Sun, there was something substantial to report. In the case of Howie Carr, as is usually the case with Howie Carr, nothing subtantial was added.

With Bob Dole, the angle was "Senators who were also war veterans". They also had Sen. Bob Kerrey (he was a wash). Problem is, obviously, Bob Dole's war, which formed Bob Dole's perspective*, is vastly different than John Kerry's war.

*writing that, I feel like Norm MacDonald :)

to be that positive. So many snide digs and underhanded comments. All the harping on being married to a rich woman and knowing how to find and marry rich women. Plenty of that snivelling Howie Carr, plenty of the patrician rich boy "complaints"..etc... It was not a hack job but I would say it was not incredibly flattering either.

I am, however, a Kerry girl. So, I'm not sure how an undecided person would respond to it.
