Should Kerry use the bible |
|
in the next debate?
Most of the people who support Bush, do so because he is supposedly such a good Christian?
Bush has claimed that Jesus is his favorite philosopher and that he has read the bible twice. Now I doubt if Bush has actually read the bible even once, no less twice. I doubt if Bush knows the Bible very well at all. He hardly ever goes to church and even since he was 'born again', he is mostly self taught?
So during the debate, Kerry should sprinkle in some biblical references that are either going to go right over Bush's microcyphlic head or will force him to respond and expose his ignorance. I don't know maybe something from the Gospel of Mathew? The fundies hate Matthew.

We don't need to have Kerry and Bush try to out thump each other. The Bible can be interpreted to say what ever someone wants it to say, Kerry should stay away from it if possible. People that value their faith carry it within, they don't wear it as a badge to be shown off.

I think Kerry should say, "Well, my faith is a personal rather than a political matter, so it's not appropriate to discuss it during this debate."

6. I'm not advocating that Kerry suddenly become a bible thumper |
|
I just think a few well placed but somewhat obscure references will show the Fundies that Kerry does know the bible and that Bush doesn't.
At the least, Kerry needs to be prepared to counter whatever references Bush is going to be sprinkling into his answers.

7. So they can call him a big phony? Nope |
|
This election isn't about the Bible. For most of those whom it is (with the exception of liberal evangelicals who will vote Dem. on things like caring for the poor anyway), Kerry is not going to win their votes no matter how many lines from scripture he quotes. To those whose votes he can actually win, it just makes him look like an insincere phony who will pander for votes.
