Disappointment in freeperland...the Kerry "notes" was a pen!
After yesterday's feeble attempt by sludge and the fundie wing of the blogosphere to discount Kerry's sound thrashing of Bush with the bogus "he had notes" talking point, Faux news and it's co-hort the New York Post are now reporting that the "notes" were in fact...a black pen.

http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/31273.htm

Which I'm sure they'll also say was "illegal" as Kerry's clicking of it so distracted our ADD afflicted president to the point where he simply couldn't think straight. :)

1. awwww!!!

Sad thing is that it's so hard for them to imagine that someone like Kerry doesn't need notes.

27. Absofuckinlutely!
Nice comeback!

Even if Kerry did have notes, he was able to respond on the fly so many times that they wouldn't have changed the outcome. Dumbya still would've failed miserably, just like he has at everything in life.

that if their Faux News won't play along, it's well and truly dead. Unlike the breaking story about *'s love child(ren). ;)

5. As noted earlier on DU, the pen is a super-secret CIA weapon
that emits a narrow beam of energy waves.... which causes in the target person a profound state of confusion and simian lip-biting.

12. I'll tell you what it was; it was a giant black pen of evil.
How could anyone expect Bush to concentrate when Kerry was flashing that instrument of evildoing all over the stage? I bet he got that pen from the North Vietnamese. It was a communist traitor pen of evil and Bush could not get over it. I mean its not like everyone has one of those.

16. Here is what I think happened.
Kerry probably took a bright shiny object out of his pocket which he then showed to Bush. At first I thought it might have been a brand new penny or a piece of tinfoil but now it appears to be a shiny pen. A bright shiny object like that would distract Bush and ordinarily entertain him for hours. Rove and Cheney probably give him a similar reward when he performs as instructed. Bush's frustration and confusion at the debate was due to the fact that he was not given the bright shiny object even though he performed the conditioned response. His reference to "hard work" probably was a way of saying that he had performed as instructed and thus had earned the bright shiny object.

This seems like the most likely explanation but I like zulchzulu's post explaining the pen much more than my theory. Perhaps both are correct.

Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 05:45 PM by seabeyond
so basically this is what the freepers are admitting to. saying he had written notes and that is why he was sssoooooo GOOD. where as their man didnt have notes, ergo why he was so bad.

take the note issue out of these statements.

kerry gave good answers
bush gave bad answers

and these are the people that support bush
