In Going Upriver they play the Nixon-Colson tape about O'Niell

I saw "Going Upriver" last night. Anyone concerned with WHO and HOW Kerry will be when elected should be brought to see this film.

The things that struck me the most were:

The actual footage of the Viet Nam war showing just how brutal this war was. Anyone seeing this footage would not consider Kerry UNAMERICAN for objecting to the manner in which this war was managed.

The actual tape between Nixon and Colson (might have been Haldeman) discussing getting John O'Niell to disparage Kerry. It would be obvious to anyone that O'Niell has made a career and gotten quite wealthy being a Nixon stooge.

The testimony of the people who served on his boat was amazing and their position about the war.

As usual, Max Cleland made some excellent points.

I also got a kick out of footage showing Shirley Chisholm and Bella Abzug..two of my heros in the women's movement.

They also showed live footage of the Winter Soldier investigation.

Vets today have KERRY to thank for the attention and appreciation they get.

Kerry is up against MANY of the same people today that he was up against back then.

Finally, the last speech by Kerry about men with small minds would be the PERFECT speech against Bush at some point.

about Kerry being the next Nader? Who said it, what was it exactly? It registered in my brain a fraction too late, but I want to show it to some Nader-lovers.

2. I laughed when I heard it

but can't recall the exact quote...something to the effect of "Nixon's concerned about this Kerry guy...he's articluate..he's likable...he's afraid he's the next Nader."

10. Nixon "looks like Kennedy and sounds like him too." I think this is tell-

ing. I also think Nixon thought Mass. people were after him.

9. This movie took me back to a very sad time and made me realize Americans

always come together for the right thing. It also showed O'Neill looking like the pissy * we saw during the debate. So mad he has been trying to pay Kerry back every since.
