That Howard Dean Is "A Gaffe A Minute"
Edited on Sat Jan-10-04 05:57 PM by cryingshame
Humor people! :)

Howard Dean was on a roll Saturday, criticizing Republican economic leadership at a campaign stop in Springfield, Ill., when he realized he could be insulting one of the people sitting with him on the dais.

"Not one Republican president has balanced the budget in 34 years is America," Dean was telling the Illinois State AFSCME Convention. "You cannot trust Republicans with your money."

Then Dean remembered that Republican state Sen. Larry Bomke, who represents most of the state employees in the room, was two seats away. Dean quickly added, "With, of course, the exception of your state senator here, who I know never would have been allowed to sit at this dais if he wasn't a good labor voter."

Bomke sat stoically while the crowd of hundreds of union workers wearing green AFSCME for Dean T-shirts raucously applauded his slams against the president.

4. Are You Kidding? I've Been Posting Positive Clark Stuff For Weeks
And nothing much else. Sad thing is that positive stuff tends to sink down into Archives pretty fast.

If this is the worst "anti-Dean" stuff you come across then consider yourself lucky.

9. Keep pushing the "gaffe" meme
Dean's a doc, and they're accustomed to telling it like it is. Voters like candidates who aren't afraid to do that - unlike somebody who, say, was a lobbyist for defense contractors and a war commentator for CNN while considering a Democratic nomination bid. :D

15. We may agree on the Cubs
Cubs will win the World Series this year, but Clark is a much better speaker and can take it to Bush on more issues then Dean my friend.

17. Michael Moore
Agreed,

Democrats back down and waffle too much when challenged. They need to:

1) Think carefully what they say and present a message that is positive and progressive.
2) Stick to it even when Republicans are calling you a communist.

Michael Moore had a great anecdote on "Real Time with Bill Marr". They were talking about the Davis waffling during California recall and Moore told them to stick to his guns. He related being a school board member and putting forward anti-discrimination legislation. He had a recall effort launched against him. As a result he introduced EVEN MORE legislation that got the recallers all fired up. The result, he won the election because he was confident and stuck to his guns.

Dean needs to stick to his guns. The suggestion about Saddam Hussein and security WAS NOT A GAFFE. It was the truth, and he stuck to it.

Gore's great fault and the overall fault of the Democratic party is that they try to dodge waves of criticism instead of steering the ship straight into it. I'm impressed by Dean. I know the media is making him out to be a bumbler. But we should all know this is a spin effort by corporate mega-corporations. There has been no greater public bumbler than Bushie himself. The media covers up his gaffs because ... well they're rich assholes and thats the only people that Bush helps.

So lets stick to our guns. But choose the message carefully.

13. Yeah - It would be great to say that to North Korea, China, Iraq, etc.
They just looove it when they're insulted. WW3 - here we come (if Dean gets in anyways).

Don't know who'd be worse at diplomacy: Dean or Bush....
