Why? Because it is the similar format to the first one. He does not like responding to specific questions that require substance. This second debate will be in front of people that he can bullshit. He can divide the audience and get it close enough to declare himself the victor. So, he will do much better in the second debate than anyone may think at this time. There is a good chance he will win it.

If he is declared the winner, what reason would he have for the third debate?? He would rather take his chances with his ads and his propaganda setup with right-wing media in control down the homestretch. He can also say that the third debate is too contrived with Bob Shieffer of CBS as the moderator. If he is going to drop out of a debate, the chances are it will be the third one.

1. considering 50.01 % of the populace is freaking pissed off
and the other 49.99% is scared shitless, i have a slight hope that the 'town meeting' will produce some tough questions for the senile old fool.

2. Well you know they will stack the audience with adoring Bush supporters
who ask Bush questions like "You doing such a good job Mr. President. I will sit down and let you respond." While expecting Kerry to explain why he would change his stance on issues that are so complicated you can't have a single minded position.
