I did next to nothing in 2000, except vote for Gore.

I know this time around, a lot more people are involved, and doing whatever they can.

What little (or big) things are you doing to get Kerry/Edwards in office? Maybe we can give each other ideas.

G.

1. I street canvass everyday in the inner city (SW Ohio)
I registered voters and I also flyer a college campus and surrounding innercity neighborhoods with the TWO-Faced graphic and the Draft Alert flyer. All the while talking to people on the street about the election.

I am volunteering with MoveOn, VoteMob and the Kerry campaign GOTV in my own ward.

2. My little contribution to get our man in office
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 12:00 PM by clydefrand
I have written letters to the newspaper and some have been printed!

I have put bumper/window stickers on our 2 cars. Never have done that before.

I have donated money to John Kerry and to the DNC. Never have I done that before.

I've volunteered at our local Dems office. Never done that before.

I have participated on this website and learned so much and laughed so much. Thanks to all of you for making this site so enjoyable.

But I must say, I'll be terribly glad when this election is over and John Kerry/John Edwards are elected so I can get a life other than DU.COM!! It's a good thing I'm retired. But it has been fun...so all has not been lost.

:bounce: :bounce:

The next post reminded me that I, too, have sent emails to networks as late as yesterday and I've voted in polls online. I just noticed Wolf Blitzer is discussing again today the "global test" issue which was discussed on here yesterday and apparently all over the place. One of my complaints to CNN/Wolf Blitzer is that they are not playing Kerry's full comments about pre-emption. Well, today, he did and right now, members of both campaigns were put on hold because Mt. St. Helens is blowing her top. He just said he would get back to the campaign tomorrow, but at least he is doing what I suggested...not that he ever read "my" little complaint...but then maybe...

3. Doing stuff
2000 shocked me out of complacency. I have discovered a passion in my heart for this country. Instead of reacting with a shrug on the subject of politics, I *care*. I'm getting informed and I'm doing my part to inform others.

So far, I have voted in online polls, wrote letters to the editor, wrote letters of complaint to the networks about their biased coverage, talked to my friends, and volunteered with the Kerry campaign doing phone-banking. I've even organized a voter registration drive at my work that is running this week. I got 9 address changes and 4 new registration this morning!

It feels good to be doing something - anything - to effect positive change. After the debate I'm even more stoked!
