One example of what's happening in non-swing America. 2004 may bring a surprise or two.
Give snaps to the Missoulians!
http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2004/10/04/news/top/news01.txtSunday's Dump Bush rally was a full-throttle, raucous liberal party as only Missoula could pull off.
Well-known writers, loquacious professors, local actors, artists, musicians and activists led a crowd of 3,000-some people in a revival-like frenzy of liberalism in Caras Park along the banks of the Clark Fork River.
A cadre of drummers announced the gathering with a giant "Dump Bush" sign and called people to the park with their rhythmic pounding and slow march along the river east from the University of Montana, across the Higgins Avenue Bridge and west to the rally in the heart of downtown.
With every step the small parade grew with the spontaneous addition of more people of the same mind: Vote out Republican President Bush. Vote in Democrat John Kerry.
