How Edwards should respond to the experience question |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 02:52 PM by dolstein
Here's how I would respond:
"It's true that Vice President Cheney has far more experience in government than I do. But where has all that experience gotten us? Has it gotten us a balanced budget? No. This administration, the first in decades to inherit a surplus, has run up trillions of dollars in debt. Has it brought prosperity to the middle class? No. This administration has the worst jobs record since the Great Depression. Has it made health care more affordable? No. Health care premiums have soared and the ranks of the uninsured have grown. Has it made us safer? No. For all of Vice President Cheney's administration, this administration has made one wrong choice after another in Iraq. They went to war without a broad international coalition or a plan to win the peace. They diverted critical resources away from the war against Al Quaeda. They misled us about the reasons for going to war. And America's standing in the world has suffered.
Vice President Cheney has plenty of experience. I'll grant him that. But what he doesn't have is good judgment. What he doesn't have is a lifelong commitment to improving the lives of middle class Americans. That's what I bring to the table.

3. I think he has great judgement. |
|
He has accomplished most of the things he's wanted to accomplish -- which is enrichment of his corporate cronies and a redesign of the system so it guarantees further enrichment of the same.
The only way you can say that Cheney has "bad judgement" is if you assume that the best interests of the country are what he was working for.
It's way past time we liberals recognize that we're not dealing with incompetent dummies, but with evil, conniving, greedy and _smart_ bastards.
One of the reasons they put Shrub on top of the ticket is exactly that: to manipulate any fire against them into complaints about supposed "incompetency", and not where it clearly belongs -- conspiratorial treason.
For example, imagine if Cheney was president; how do you think that would affect the numbers of people who believe in MIHOP or LIHOP?

5. Plus John Edwards isn't being elected to actually |
|
lead the gov't. as de facto president, as Dick has done for this entire administration. John Kerry will be a fine President. So will John Edwards eight years from now.
