I need help planning a GOTV.
Anyone have any good resources? I'm talking nity-gritty here. How many times to knock, on whose door should we knock. The only one doing this in my area will be me with a motly crew of volunteers. That might not be such great thing for the future of our nation since I don't know what the hell I'm doing.

We do have a data base, so that's a start.

1. Start with phone banking. Update that data base and get more help
identify who is on your list and what their issues are. Identify who needs help voting for our guy. Then when early voting in your area starts get to work. Phone bank again. Did you vote? Yes flag them as done no more calls. No do you need a ride? How can we help? Schedule a ride or follow up. Keep after them. When you see trends IE White Female 18 - 24 pro Kerry target them and GOTV Good Luck

2. Do you send people out to knock in poor areas?
Or is that too time consuming? Is it best to skip the voters who make it to the polls every time in favor of less reliable voters?

What portion of the effort will be spent phoning as compared to driving. This will help to allocate volunteer time, and it is easier to get volunteers to phone then to walk or drive strangers.

5. I do GOTV in the innercity in SW Ohio everyday
All you have to do is walk down the street. Keep it real and leave the wonk talk behind. The draft, no jobs, cuts in services, are all issues of importance. Bush was a male cheerleader, etc. In fact * is a two-faced punk ass bitch about sums it up.

BTW TWO-FACED is VERY effective in the innercity. It is easy to hang flyers on utility poles and they do not get torn down like they do near college campuses.

Go to http://somnamblst.tripod.com to download flyers to print and distribute.

3. Also, if we can get a list of the newly registered
are they an important target? Are they a more important target than people who have been registered for some time.

Common sense tells me that people who registered Democratic within the last six months would be an ideal target but some of these things are counterintuitive.

4. Talk to someone in ACT or your local Dem Party.
Where are you?

8. I'm not in a swing state,
but I'd rather not advertise where I am considering the revealing nature of this request.

9. The local party isn't very useful to say the least.
Act isn't active in my state, which I don't want to mention due to the nature of this request.

10. Time is getting short. Put a BIG KERRY Sign up it will draw the people
you need and it drives away The Rabid Radical Right better than any thing else. The data base is the key. Phone bank first. Update the data base. When you know someone is likely to vote in your favor follow up on them. Spend the little time you have left wisely. Use the phones as much as possible. When you take it to the streets go in pairs and keep it real. Yes you can Block walk, do it in an area likely to be worth your time. Get yourself the two faced logo and print it on fliers or business cards (I got a thousand of two faced business cards for $42) Leave them every where.

12. ACT has a very high powered, high tech, expensive system set
up for GOTV.

Mainly, I meant find someone with ACT or the Dem Party ANYWHERE and get tips like you're asking here.

ACT may not be the absolute best source but the right person may be able to give you a few directions on doing GOTV on the cheap.

If you're in an urban area with a good, well-used transit system then consider simply setting up a strategically located table and recruiting volunteers. Also, consider contacting local unions, civic organizations and religious groups directly and anonymously over the phone. Explain what you want to do and ask if their membership might be interested in helping. Undoubtedly there are a few Dems who will want to help, too.

Vincardog had some great ideas. Phone banking is a great tool. Of course, getting the voters to the polls is the "finisher" of the GOTV. If your state has early voting it would sure make it easier to spread a lot of work over weeks rather than a day. You'd need fewer people, obviously--- or, conversely, a core group could be a lot more efficient.

6. Absentee voting drive
not sure how this would work but the people in retirement homes and nursing homes would probably really appreciate it if someone could bring them their absentee ballots. I've never voted absentee so I'm not sure how it works. Just an idea at this point
