1. Supreme Court
2. Supreme Court
3. Supreme Court

I'm also VERY concerned about potential Supreme Court appointments. Did I mention judicial appointments?

8. All of the above
Bush has dug his evil little claws into every aspect of our government. Even if he hadn't gone into Iraq I still would be fighting for his removal.

9. Other: All of the above
We live in a very complex and fast paced world, most of those issues relate to one another in one form or another. And they, separately, are all signs to me that this country is going in the exact wrong direction under the GOP. But then I expected that it would, so I'm not shocked just pissed off.

11. all listed are impt to me....but the biggest is bushco approval of torture
I was thinking about all this the other night and realized that this issue really hits me the worst.

With W, the US has become a 'torture nation.' Those images may not be burned into the minds of most US citizens; they definitely help 'paint the picture' of the US for the rest of the world.

Approval of torture, pre-emptive war, secret trials and verdicts, etc. Everything that I learned as a kid from movies and books are the marks of 'the enemy,' of 'an evil country.'

I, and maybe most of us here, can block this out most of the time. But it has seriously damaged my view of my country and of myself as a citizen of this country.

There are many things I will never forgive this administration and its enablers in congress, the media, the churches, etc; this leads them all.

12. Constitutional Issues
* will do so much damage to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that the country may never return to anything of the sort we have known all our lives. I am 52, and have been politically conscious since 1968- before I was able to do anything about it except talk.

If * steals another four years, the SCOTUS will be hard right for at least a generation, the draft will be back, the US government will be irretrievable from the deLay sort of ReThugs because of gerrymandering, and ...

That's just the beginning. He has already recast a good bit of the supposedly apolitical parts of the Federal government - such as trying to appoint his own archivist who specializes in making things disappear. I am sure that * has put his slimy hands in quite a few other parts of the permanent government that haven't even approached being on the radar screen.

Our children and grandchildren will be paying *'s rich friends' debts for many years, and * is laughing about it.

We must win this one big. Taking back the Senate would be a nice premium, too.

15. Torture!
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 04:32 PM by baltodemvet
Violates international law
Inconsistent with "a decent respect to the opinions of mankind."
Violates American standards of decency
Will endanger captive Americans for years to come.
Who's next?

Whether or not (not) he wants to own up to it, Bush is responsible and must be repudiated!
