thousands flock to local city elections office on last day to register
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 05:09 PM by Cheswick
Today is the last day to register to vote in Pa. Here in NE PA. several thousand people have flocked to the elections office in Scranton and Wilkes Barre to register. The people at the office say it is the biggest rush on registration they have every seen.
I think we are going to have a big turn out on election day. That is a good thing because this is a democratic area.

2. registered my 20 yo sister. she might vote for * though
She's been in and out of the looney bin for over a year, so I can at least tell myself that you DO have to be nuts to support the giggling murderer.

8. If you are serious...
and depending how you think it would play...

Would she want someone like her to be running the country? If she says no... then tell her that gw* is nuttier than she is. (That would make her feel better about herself both ways)

16. I was at voter reg at 3:30. At that time, there were four
people there, and what appeared to be a reporter interviewing two young college age girls. But we've already turned in over 1000 new registrations from our weekly drag of the city, with about 100 people from Maryland helping out the last several weeks. Many neighborhoods were hit more than once or twice in our canvassing, as the residents told us.

5. What I don't understand is that with the changes in voter registration
why are so many registering to vote at the last minute?

Don't every state have voter registration at License Branches?

7. I know that people have been registering in large numbers all along
these are just the last minute people who always do things that way. Or maybe they just finally caught the spirit.

6. Wayne County has a Kerry office in Honesdale
It was opened about 2 weeks ago. It would be great if we could turn NEPA blue.
I was also VERY impressed by the K/E presence I saw in Philly this weekend.
The Pennsylvania organization looks solid.

9. Luzerne and Lackawanna are always blue..... Wayne may get there
They used to be repug country, but there has been a large influx of people moving there from NYC since 9-11. It would be great to add Wayne to the blue counties. Wyoming, Susq, Tioga... they are still pretty conservative. Guns and Abortion!

10. I just wonder
If this has something to do with the poll numbers in PA Could it be they were worried if they didn't do their part this year they might get stuck with bush again?

11. That could be... I see a lot of college kids registering and I think
the idea of voting is catching on. It's kind of that thing kids do when they all get enthusiastic about something at the same time.
