1. It isn't a democracy now
And, they haven't figured out what to do if Sadr runs for president and wins, either.

26. Here is what I care about
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 01:25 AM by Carla in Ca
But while the Bush administration has put hundreds of thousands of U.S. soldiers in harm's way in Iraq, it is cutting funding for the already beleaguered support services for U.S. veterans damaged in war zones.

Why isn't this being shouted from the roof tops?

what will happen if their democracy brings another dicator? Signed, sealed, delivered, and certified elections by the good ole' USofA.

5. It should be the Iraqis decision what their govt is
but when we leave, I hope we leave it the same or BETTER than when we invaded them. But that will be hard; the country is being decimated.

And if that's really the way it is for them, fine with me.

But democracy under occupation is no democracy at all.

18. Do you care if the United States of America is a democracy?
Just asking, because if * is put back in office, well, "we" won't have a democracy worth speculating about.

19. If
it ever becomes one its not going to stay that way for long,if they have fair elections, the people of Iraq are fundies they want a Islamic state, and that is what they will have one day even if they have to over throw the democracy.Hopefully we are able to keep good ties with there government when it happens, but the people are always gonna have a dislike for us because we are infidels hopefully we can keep it a peaceful dislike for us.

They are not gonna be to happy about the 14 perma bases we are building there, those bases will always be a thorn in there side and will cause a lot of anger in there people torward the US,Repubs like to say well what about Japan or Germany we changed them to democracy i would say to those people you underestimate the conviction of a Iraqi's faith.

20. The 2000 selection
proved that we don't have a Democracy here in the U.S. We have no business trying to impose one, with bombs and bullets no less, on any other nation. It was a PNAC wet dream, doomed to failure from the beginning.

They should of let Saddam run it. He was bad for Iraqi's but he kept the terrorists out of the country. Now it's going to be a breeding ground for who knows how many years to come?

But that kind of pre-supposes democratic principles, now doesn't it?

Iraqis democratically.

Look at all the problems Texas has created for the world by making a few people very wealthy.

I really really really hope Iraq becomes a democracy with a level playing field and opportunity for all.
