Cheney was born in 1941 and Edwards was born in 1953. He really isn't that much older, he just looks older than his age. Probably from his poor health (heart condition).

doesn't want to turn off the elderly. No one is going to win who turns off any part of this population. The trick is to speak to all the people and their real needs while Cheney keeps preaching "doom and gloom and hopelessness" to all. Turn the attention of the every day needs of people instead of giving up everything one has because the "boggieman cometh" crap.
