George Bailey vs. Mr. Potter -- How many ladies know what I'm saying?
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 09:08 AM by Francine Frensky
Tonight's debate is between the compassionate John Edwards, and the big-bucks CEO Dick Cheney.

There has never been a greater contrast between the democratic and republican visions of the world than what will be center stage tonight.

Cheney thinks capitalism solves all problems and big businesses should be left alone to do whatever they want.

Edwards believes in people and in helping people.

Every woman in the United States should ask themselves this question before voting: Do I want to live in Bedford Falls or Pottersville?

Cause whoever wins this election will probably be shaping the America of the 21st Century.

2. I don't want to be Violet!
Scary thought.

I liked the comparison one of our other DUers came up with over the weekend-- Mr. Rogers vs. Hannibal Lecter. It stuck with me.

4. I have been thinking about Pottersville and Bedford Falls...
for months as the metaphor for the contrasts between the Democrats and the Repukes. Where would you want to live?

10. I married George Bailey
Well, as close to "George Bailey" as I could get.

>Every woman in the United States should ask themselves this question before voting: Do I want to live in Bedford Falls or Pottersville?<

I agree. Plus, John Edwards is proud of his intelligent, well-educated wife. She knows what it's like to go to a job every day and take care of her family, unlike our current administration's spouses. The Edwards family has a few dollars in the bank, but they worked hard to get them.

I'd rather have my America shaped by two men who have shown their dedication to family and to hard work than by two men who have shown that there is nothing in this life more important to them than power and money.

You're talking about "It's A Wonderful Life," right? Never seen it. But I would choose Edwards any day over Cheney...as a leader or a husband. :loveya:

13. I just wish someone would use this tonight after the debate
whatever happens, I think this analogy, after seeing the two side by side, will resonate with people, especially women.

16. I'd rather live in Pottersville!
Hey, Pottersville had great bars, nightlife, dance halls, and live music. Bedford Falls was a la-la-idealistic land of smarmy sentiments and faux greeting card sentiments bearing little or no relationship to reality. Sure, Pottersville needed some help too, I mean I'm not for the poverty or the facist corporate ownership of resources, but Bedford Falls was BORING. At least Pottersville wasn't so damn repressed!

Heh heh heh heh heh, flame away. :D
