Good Timing for Bad News
On the day of the debate between the populist Trial lawyer vs the Oppressive Oil Exec, Rueters announces that oil prices set a new record above $50 a barrel on Tuesday.

If anyone is worried about Edwards, just see how events have conspired to offer him maximum ammunition against Cheney.

1. If there is any attack on Edwards
about his chosen profession, he should just start reciting the list of corporate CEOs who have fucked the US public in recent history. There are always individuals in any profession or trade who will give it a "bad name". We should judge individuals on their own merits and not lump them together with some stereotype. I am sick and tired of gutless sleaze-bags like Dick "Fuck your grandmother" Cheney saying that lawyers are disreputable. I have scraped things off the bottom of my shoe that where of a higher caliber of being than Dick "I just can't get the blood off my hands" Cheney.

2. A new record....
until tomorrow (or next week, or next month) when the price goes up and sets another new record.

3. Sure, with Cheney/Bush in charge, the worst is yet to come
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 09:13 AM by demwing2
But the symbolism here should not be taken too lightly. Cheney will undoubtedly attack Kerry/Edwards on their inexperience, claim that Democrats have stonewalled attempts at passing an energy bill, and whine that he and W would have succeeded if not for two Senators with a Presidential election on their minds.

Edwards can easily counter that the Repukes control the entire government, the POTUS and VP have strong ties to the oil industry, and the press has offered them fre reign the last 4 years, but still, today, on the day you come forward to defend your horrible record with your incredible spin, Reuters reports that Oil prices have hit yet ANOTHER all time HIGH.

They've HAD 4 years, and look at what has happened. The question isn't "why Kerry/Edwards?" but "Why Cheney/Bush?"

and yes, I'm putting Cheney first on purpose. I think we all should. After all, he's running the joint.

4. Cleveland is also the poorest "big" city in America
with 31% living in poverty...

"Cleveland's unemployment rate is more than double that of the nation: 12.2 percent in August. Between 2000 and 2003, the Cleveland metropolitan area lost 65,000 jobs -- 44,000 of them in manufacturing -- and far more than any of Ohio's seven other metropolitan areas. Cleveland alone lost about 28 percent of the 233,000 jobs the entire state lost during that period..."

Bad news for Cleveland, and potential bad news for Cheney/Bush.

Edwards need only present the truth, along side of a plan for a better future. Cheney can spin all he wants, but Ohio knows better.
