Some responses from people who donated to Crawford paper
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 10:25 AM by Clinton Crusader
-'GREAT ! THANKS! I spoke with one of the reporters that they had to put on the phone to run interference, and they are very appreciative of the positive feedback. Way to stick it to the Bushies!'

-'I really didn't want to receive their paper, so I just called the number below and asked if I could donate as I really didn't want a subscription sent but just asked if I could donate. I donated $20. They'll take any amount and they were thrilled. Even if you can only donate $5.00, please just give them a call.'

-'I just bought a one-year subscription to this paper. It is only $45.00. Show them that you support their "stones" at being strong enough to stand up and support John Kerry in Duhhhbya's hometown! Even if you call them and thank them.'

The number is (254) 675-3336.
This is the 800 number - 1-800-241-5504

edit - to add 800 #

1. Don't use the 800...it COSTS them money
They likely have a measured service...so many calls for a set fee. OR, they pay for all incoming calls. Cost of doing business if you're only expecting a few...how many toll-free calls to you think such a tiny paper gets? If you're calling their 800 number, THEY have to pay for your call. Use your cell phone instead, and your free minutes/long distance. Consider it part of your donation.

7. In a change the regime conference I attended, they mentioned the democratic
news papers in Texas and the south are a good source to convert the conservatives. Just a thought to ponder.

4. I called in my subscription.
And I talked with the gentleman on the other end about the situation.
He told me that they had received far more out of town subscriptions
that they had lost local accounts. It appears that they may get enough support nationally to continue their policy of printing their opinions even if they are opposed to king george.

5. Had some leftover Paypal cash
So I subscribed. IRT the comment about gaining more than they lost, that would seem to go without saying :) How many people live there, 800 or so?

8. I appeciate that,
but they are, after all, a business, and this is going to end up helping them in the end. Not that I'm discouraging anyone from doing whatever they can to help them save money, just that I don't want the reactionaries to start claming that they're only surviving due to some sort of liberal "welfare" or something.
