Boston Globe: "Global Test" tactic turns against Bush
Pretty good article about the "Global Test" blowing up in their face.

PRESIDENT BUSH has already managed to lose the second debate with John Kerry -- the high-stakes argument over what happened in the first debate.

Dick Cheney can halt the slide tonight, and Bush himself can just as easily reverse it in St. Louis on Friday, but the steeper hill they face is one of their own making.

The Bush campaign put all of its post-Coral Gables eggs in one basket, called the Kerry Doctrine -- a made-up, cartoon version of the senator's foreign policy views. By contrast, Kerry was able to keep the debate going about credibility in the wars (which he finally managed to separate) inside Iraq and against terrorism worldwide, while focusing on the domestic policy themes that will be more prominent in the days ahead.

The "Kerry Doctrine" is classic Bush campaign think -- the belief that in the modern age of electronic communication and short attention spans, enough money and enough repetition can create any image, even a position that unlucky target does not hold.

1. I hadn't heard that one but did hear the shit he's come up with in
the last 48 hours calling Kerry's healthplan "Hillarycare" or some such thing. I do hope Kerry nails him through the head on this on Friday. The one thing I noticed, though, is that even his handpicked audience barely managed a laugh or any applause. Even they are sensing not only desperation but the bluring of issues using the "Limbaugh" lines. He damn well better watch himself.

2. MSNBC mentioned that last night, too
I think it was on Olbermann... their newsweek pollster said most Americans want more international/UN support for any military actions.

4. I wondered what prompted "Now he's lying about it"
I didn't think it was a good idea, but given the "Global Test" lies * started telling, saying * is lying about the debate is probably a very good idea.

Plus, it hammers at the loss of credibility that *'s performance caused him.

5. Remember that college prof
who said Bush wouldn't confront anyone face-to-face, but he'd spitefully start a whispering campaign to discredit the opponent afterwards? His adult behavior is to the same pattern. He can't get it together during the debates, can't defend himself, and then in later speeches to constituents, makes snide discrediting attempts. What a coward! His behavior reminds me of mean girls in junior high school.
