I had this conversation awhile ago with someone who voted for Nader in 2000, won't do so in 2004, not because of the "spoiler" but because he thought Nader's gone nuts.

Anyhow.
Right? Wrong?

Discuss.

2. Actually, ... yes.
in so many ways.

The debate around Bartman is similar to the debate about Nader.

4. Exactly.
This was intended as an open-ended question.

3. I wonder what all of his defenders are saying now
After the Cubs were bounced from the playoffs last year they said "we'll get 'em next year".

Well, next year has come and gone. What do they have to say?

Crickets chirping.

5. Same with Yoko.
The Beatles broke up on their own; but she was there, and got blamed.

The Cubs couldn't field; but Bartman was there, and got blamed.

Gore lost because he couldn't carry his own home state; but Nader was there, and got blamed.

I could go on and on.... ;)

6. Bartman was more than "just there."
I could go on and on, but I find the typical Nadir apologist too stupid to be worth the effort any longer.

9. Nader is an asshat. Gore lost the election because of his own incompetence
Those two statements are NOT mutually exclusive.

Bartman fucked up. Alex Gonzalez couldn't field a routine grounder. Those two statements are also NOT mutually exclusive.

And if you think for a second that I'm an apologist for Ralphie-boy, I am certainly not the "stupid" one.

10. You're apologizing for him.
Therefore you're a Nadir apologist. It's somewhat elementary. Even a stupid person would see that.

7. Not If You're A White Sox Fan...LOL
Bartman was like Howard Dean/Wesley Clark/Dennis Kucinich/Abraham Lincoln/Jesus Christ/Fanny Brice/Humphrey Bogart/Crosby, Stills, Nash and/or Young all rolled into one.

As Jack Brickhouse once said..."any team can have a bad century". Plus, real Democrats can never support a team owned by the Right Wing Tribune Company.

13. I was in Ditka's in Chicago for a corporate party the night of that game.
Picture a bunch of well-dressed businessmen yelling at the TV screen, all while their bosses' bosses simultaneously yelled along side them and hoped this wouldn't ruin the night's potential sales.
