Debate #2: Friday will be a real test for DU (et al)
1) The media was primed for a comeback-Kerry story because it was the most entertaining/suspenseful option. When the debate turned out to be a rout it played right into the story-line of least resistance. The two media-preferred options for debate 2 are a Bush win or a draw, making debate 3 decisive. (It's a trilogy and this debate is EMPIRE STRIKES BACK) It will be tough to steam-roll the pre-determined story-line.

2) The media is perennially manipulated by Republican operatives but have taken a snarky tone re: Democratic post-debate letters and online polling efforts. They will want to push back, being ostentatiously unaffected by our post-debating PR.

3) The Republicans will have a fraudulent automated online poll response effort in place. (Count on that) Online polls are always bullshit, but they are now a symbolic marker of party organization and enthusiasm. We should also expect Republican LTTE astroturf campaigns.

So This Friday night is a much stiffer challenge and requires an even MORE vigorous effort than the last debate.

2. so debate 3 is Return of the Kerry?
Seriously, if Bush had been in charge, the empire never would have been able to chase the rebels off of Hoff.

3. Absolutely! Debate #2 (and tonight's) are VERY important
And our participation is important, but I do have to say that Kerry is the one that has to carry it. He needs a big win on Friday.

6. ALL the remaining debates will be a stiffer challenge--they're on to us
We really took them by surprise with our post-debate online blitz, so you can bet your first-born male child that they've got a counterattack in the wings. It's crunch time, folks--onward, DU soliders!
