Would someone PLEASE tell Dumbya and his campaign the name of his opponent
I'm SO SICK of Dumbya and every other Repuke calling Kerry his "opponent".

1. It is a mental thing, he can not bring himself to say John Kerry
One more mental problem he has.

4. It's patronizing and insulting
Dumbya is the LAST person who has any right to feel superior to anyone.

My cats are a lot smarter than he is.

2. It's very intentional
Acknowledging his name to them is the same as free advertisement.

Interestingly, when Pappy was prez, he purposely mispronounced Saddam Hussein's name; rather than pronouning it as SA-DOM, he chose SAD-em.
It was seen in that region of the world as a direct insult. Which of course, is how he meant it.

5. Pschological ploy that is a usual Rove tactic. It won't work. We know his
name and Kerry will here when that pipsqueak is long gone.

6. actually
He calls Kerry "mah 'ponet"

I say, spelling Bush's words clearly only gives the mistaken impression that he's speaking them clearly.

The newspapers need to start quoting what he *actually* says, instead of cleaning things up to make it look like he can speak the language.

8. It's a standard campaign tactic - avoiding giving the oppoent more name
recognition.

I don't know if it actually works, though, and I've always thought it was a wimpy thing to do.

9. It's also a courtroom standard
Prosecutors always refer to the defendant as, "the defendant" instead of by name. It dehumanizes him/her, making it easier to find the guilty verdict.

10. Bush = Rude
He's a peevish, ill-mannered little man.

Who likes to lecture us about morality and integrity.

Get some manners, tiny man.

11. Actually...
That is the question I would ask if I was at the town hall meeting.

"SIR, why do you refuse to say John Kerry's name?"

It would be tough to answer.

He would probably say something like, "I know my opponent's name is John Kerry!! I know that!!"

12. This is intentional and smart. Don't advertise your opponent.
Early on, I posted that I wished Kerry would quite referring to "President Bush." There are other ways to refer to him w/o doing his advertising for him. Since then, I've noticed that Kerry has quit saying that, pretty much.

14. I've said the very same thing
Reminding people that Bush is president everytime Kerry mentions his name is not good.

13. That's an old political campaign axiom
you never call you opponent by name. In the old days it was "my esteemed opponent".
