Edwards should say this after question of Cheney's experience vs. his |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 01:08 PM by zulchzulu
Edwards:
I appreciate the time that Dick Cheney has served in public life. That is to be commended. However, if you look at what he has supported through his career, you find that he has voted to cut the very same weapons systems that he claims John Kerry was for. I find this to be part of the dishonesty Cheney displays for the American people.
If you look what he has done with other issues, he opposed federal funding for abortions even in the case of rape or incest. He voted against the Equal Rights Amendment for women and against creating the Department of Education. He also voted against a ban on armor piercing bullets otherwise known as cop killer bullets. He also voted against a seven-day waiting period on handgun purchases.
There are more issues that could take up the entire time of this debate to expose, but those are hints of his agenda.
What Mr. Cheney's experience shows me is that he doesn't believe in women's rights, wants to have our law enforcement officers to be less safe and is a good friend to the gun lobby, the polluters, the oil companies like Halliburton and has clearly shown that he can continute to decieve the American people with the current war in Iraq.
If it were me, I would not be very proud of that record.

1. I Would Take A Little Different Angle... |
|
Well, experience is a good thing in many cases, but not all cases. Look at what his so-called "experience" has done to our nation during his time in office: 1.5 million lost jobs, the worst record since Herbert Hoover and you can't blame it on terror and 9/11 because other presidents had WWII, Korean War, Vietnam war and gas shortages to contend with and still created jobs, Iraq war sold on false pretenses, over 1000 dead Americans there, 28,000 medical evacuees from Iraq, $200 Billion spent helping people in Iraq while piling up record deficits here for our children and grandchildren to pay off,5 million more people without health insurance at all and many more without good insurance since they've taken office, 2 million falling into poverty and the environment has never been under such attack from any administration in history with energy policy being devised by major polluters in secret meetings with the Vice President. John Kerry and I don't think that's the kind of experience America needs, just the opposite I'd say.

8. Mr Cheney, how did you USE your experience? |
|
...Then rattle off the numerous problems that were cause by lack of judgement and neglect. It's not enough to have experience, it's how you use it that counts. In Cheney's case, he misread intelligence, mislead us about WMD's, etc etc etc etc....this is not the right kind of experience, is it?

2. To sum it up, Experience in failing the American people is nothing to be |

proud of. I would be ashamed if this was what I was experienced in.

For Edwards to mention that Cheney did ads for Arthur Anderson the corrupt accountanting firm that helped Eron defraud the stock market and thousands of investors. Also, mention that while Martha has been convicted. Kenny-boy is still a free man.
Also, mention that while Cheney was C.E.O of Haliburton they did business with Iran and lied about their income thereby defrauding their investors a crime that had the company done that today. Cheney would have been brought up on charges.
Third, try to find a place to mention that Cheney denies his gay daughter in order to advance his political career i.e. not having her up on stage at the Republican convention.

6. That's great and he should ask for re-imbursement for victims |
|
of the Enron collapse. "Mr. Cheney, will you personally repay those victims who trusted you what they lost in the Enron collapse?
