Edwards and Cheney are like George Bailey against Mr.Potter.
John Edwards is the real plain-speaking candidate, a true outsider, a dedicated small town servant of the people. Cheney is the old miser, bleeding everyone dry.

That's how the public will see these two in tonights debate, especially if Cheney plays up his vast 'experience' in Washington. John will present his home spun wisdom and his lifetime committment to the real concerns of ordinary Americans. Cheney can be wrapped in everything folks hate about government and its revolving door politics.

George Bailey : You sit around here and you spin your little webs and you think the whole world revolves around you and your money. Well, it doesn't, Mr. Potter. In the whole vast configuration of things, I'd say you were nothing but a scurvy little spider.

"Just remember this, Mr. Potter: that this rabble you're talking about, they do most of the working and paying and living and dying in this community. Well, is it too much to have them work and pay and live and die in a couple of decent rooms and a bath?"

3. It would be so cool if ...
Cheney let loose with the potty mouth on TV! I wonder if I would ever be able to stop laughing ...

4. Definately how it needs to be cast...
Let's hope Edwards can pull off a convincing Jimmy Stewart.

Now, on the other hand, Cheney is also the spitting image of Mr. Burns, but I'm not sure I want to try to make a Simpsons analogy here. =)

5. "Listen, daddy..."
"Teacher says every time Mr Potter gets his bell rung, an angel gets his wings!"
"W-w-well, that's RIGHT, honey!!"
John
God I love that movie.

6. EXCELLENT analogy
I always felt that Cheney was Mr. Potter, and it always infuriated me that he got away with it. It's one of the first things I thought of when Bush/Cheney got away with stealing the election.

7. Yeah, they hid the votes
But, Bailey had friends who chipped in and put him back on top. "No man is a failure who has friends." (or sumpthin like that)
