Walter Mondale on the Al Franken Show
was just talking about how the only vote in congress against the resolution to free Nelson Mandela was made by Dick Cheney.

I would love to see John Edwards get this into the debate tonight and see how Cheney reacts.

1. Sorry, but that's not a vote-swinger
I'd love to see him squirm, but this is not a forum for winning smugness points. The point of this debate is to continue Kerry's momentum of showing the Bush administration up for being a bunch of clueless, callous, profiteers.

4. LYING, clluess, callous, profiteers
Cheney will lie, lie, and lie again tonight. When he starts lying about bringing freedom to Iraq as a core value of the administration, Edwards can point out that Cheney's commitment to freedom was strangely absent in Mandela's case, and it points to a complete lack of judgement on Cheney's part. The whole world, with the exception of the scumbags in South Africa and Dick Cheney wanted to see Mandela freed.

Its not about smugness. Its about demonstrating what Cheney is all about, and there is nothing more objective than his past statements and positions, especially when those things can be evaluated outside the emotional context that 9/11 and the war in Iraq so many base their opinions on.

2. I think a vote against the resolution to free...
Nelson Mandela does show how clueless these people are. I can't think of a way to defend that, unless he started spewing some baloney about not interferring in the workings of a sovereign government no matter how corrupt or morally bankrupt ... oh, wait. Maybe Cheney shouldn't bring that up...

3. Talking about how Cheney is the strong arm
strong man behind all of the decisions by this
administration.

Painting a target on Cheney's back, so he can't
hide back in the shadows anymore.
