Low Expectations: How Cheney Can Win Tonight's Debate |
|
I definitely think that Cheney can win some major points if he can somehow refrain from biting the head off a live baby on national television.
What other things can help Cheney put up a "better than expected" performance tonight?

1. He needs a botox injeection in the jaw ... |
|
so he can't physically snarl. That's the only way to stop it.

2. I don't know but he is smart and evil and Edwards needs our thoughts |
|
I think that Edwards actually got a harder job as far as debates go. Cheney seems like he is a lot harder to defeat that Shrub. He is the man behind the curtain after all.

3. Refrain from using Dark Force powers.... |
|
...considering that if he does, Edwards will become more powerful than he could ever imagine.

BushCo is desperate and with events in Iraq and the economy turning strongly against them THEY ARE DANGEROUS. I agree with those that say Kerry/Edwards are facing a cornered Rat.
Because of this, Edwards tonight has to be prepared for the worst. Cheney will come out swinging and I suspect will try to trap Edwards in the complexity of policies and issues, maximizing the advantage of his insider knowledge.
That said, if Edwards can keep his cool and keep the focus on the incredibly poor stewardship of the Shrub Administration he will be the walk away winner. Edwards is more than up to this task. He just has to watch out for traps and press the good fight.

5. Slate/Day to Day: RAISED expectations |
|
NPR's Day to Day program had Will Saletan gushing with Noah Adams about how great Cheney is in debate. Mesmerizing, they called his performance in 2000. Sounded to me like they didn't give Edwards much of a chance.
So how low are expectations, really?

6. we have low expectations, but his followers don't |
|
Like Bush, Cheney is likely to be the victim of his handlers' success: he's been in hiding, and allowing his image to be manufactured for him. But now, everyone is going to get a real good look at who he is, with no props.
Just like Bush, but Cheney won't get a second chance. I think Edwards can smoke him, but I guess we'll find out tonite.
