North Carolinians Anxiously Await Cheney-Edwards Debate
RALEIGH, N.C. -- With the vice-presidential debate assuming new importance in the tightly contested presidential contest between George W. Bush and John Kerry, North Carolinians plan to watch Tuesday to see how John Edwards' communications skills would hold up against Dick Cheney's experience.
The state Democratic Party scheduled watch parties in several places, including Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Raleigh, Wilmington and Edwards' hometown of Robbins, where 30 to 40 people were expected to watch the debate at the former Milliken Mill.
"We're all very excited," said Clare Ruggles, volunteer coordinator for the Kerry-Edwards campaign in Moore County. "We were so elated by John Kerry's performance last Thursday night. Everyone is very ebullient and excited about this debate as well. We expect John Edwards to do a very strong job in debating Dick Cheney." The Moore County Democratic Party originally planned only a a watch party in Pinehurst, but Robbins residents wanted their own party, Ruggles said.
Robbins Mayor Mickey Brown said he expected Edwards to do a good job of communicating the issues. "Some of the problems that plague this country, he's knowledgeable of because a lot of them are small-town issues," Brown said. "He's lived them before in his life so he can better communicate how to solve them. He has a common-man approach to trying to solve these problems that are plaguing us."http://www.wral.com/news/3784785/detail.html

Of course, they mean "eagerly." Don't any journalists write simple, correct English any more? John The two words are complete opposites.
