Why hasn't Kerry been running on this theme all along?
Concerning his Vietnam service and his subsequent testimony before Congress, John Kerry had this to say today:

"When I saw the mistakes I stood up," he said. "When I came back I had the courage to point them out to the American people."

It's about time he started running that concept by people. He has a well documented history of standing up to the Government when he feels that the Government is deceiving the public and an ill-conceived, disasterous war effort. How much more SPECIFIC could his experience in this sort of thing be?

Still, at least he's making that point now, and it's about damn time.

1. I don't know why. It's about time, though.

2. I thought he has been saying this for a long time
it may not have been the cornerstone of his candidacy, but he has always say that he is proud that he came home and pointed out why the war he had fought in was a mistake. Too bad that the media doesn't want to cover that.

4. It's one of the great ironies of the Vietnam war
Had it not been for John and his ilk, the war would have gone one for much longer and more men and women would have been lost.

They nail him to the cross because he stood up for the truth then and NOW.

7. Yes, but he has failed to draw a parallel.
Until now, he hasn't drawn the direct parallel between what he did then and what he is doing now. The voters are, well. . . go outside and walk around for a while. You kind of have to whack them over the head with a shovel to get their attention.

This is the first time I have seen him draw a direct parallel between his testimony before congress and how he sees the war in Iraq. Perhaps that is clearer when you read the whole article. :P
