McAuliffe gives Halliburton Hospitability gift bags to the press - debate
4:09 p.m. Don't accuse them of being subtle
The DNC just handed out what they're calling a "Halliburton Hospitality Gift Bags" to members of the media here. Inside, everyone gets their very own no-bid contract, a fake check for $2 million, a $45 can of soda and a $100 box of laundry detergent. You have to give Terry McCauliffe credit. If nothing else, he is creative.

10. Pat Leahy is sitting in the second row....something big?
They're putting a lot of pressure on John Edwards tonight. I'm sure he's up for it though; makes me wonder what he has up his sleeve.

13. Lame answer from Cheney (same link):
6 p.m. More Halliburton
In response to the Halliburton gift bags the DNC passed out to the media, the Bush Cheney campaign just passed out a press release that basically repeats everything in the FactCheck.org story posted here earlier. The gist: Yes, Cheney did receive $2 million dollars from Halliburton after the election, but most of it was before he took office. Cheney advisor Mary Matalin told MSNBC earlier in the day Cheney and his wife Lynn intend to donate any future earnings on stock options to children's charities.

14. oh, they're doing it "for the Children...."
(per Bill Maher)

So this somehow excuses corporate theft and embezzlement of taxpayer dollars?

Then again, why not? Prescott Bush had no trouble taking Hitler's money, either.

15. Well, if that's true that MacAuliff Jerk has really "redeemed himself"
with this Leftist Dem tonight. He did exceptionally well against RNC Gillespie on Scarborough tonight...now he's responsible for "Halliburton Hospitality bags?"

Who finally told Terry how to wake up and go after the PRIZE? Good for HIM!
