"To my knowledge, I have not seen any strong, hard evidence that links the two."

Mr Rumsfeld said there were differences in the intelligence community as to what the relationship was.

"I have seen the answer to that question migrate in the intelligence community over a period of a year in the most amazing way," he told an audience at the Council on Foreign Relations after being asked what Saddam's connection to al-Qaeda was.

Then he said his comment "regrettably was misunderstood," and added: "I have acknowledged since September 2002 that there were ties between Al-Qaeda and Iraq."

But I got it figured out;

Ok rumsfailed, so Monday morning you're blaming the intell community who have always said there never were any such ties for misleading you on ties between Iraq and al Qaeda that you've never seen any strong hard evidence of. . . and Monday afternoon you're NOT blaming the intell community who have always said there were never any such ties for misleading you on any ties that you've acknowledged since 2002 even though in 2003 and yesterday morning you said you'd seen no evidence of any such ties.

Right before Edwards debate before the primary proponent in the Bush Administration asserting such a link.

Edwards is going to trial laywer this one on the evidence, all of which contradicts Cheney's assertions.

They should have not let Rummy retract his statement, as that made things much worse.
