Bremer handed Team Kerry an incredible weapon today. Was it deliberate?
I've hated that effete, 100% Puke Bremer from the time I first had the misfortune of seeing him on tv. BUT, I now seriously think the guy has flipped, if not toward Kerry, at least far away from *. I'm sure he went through total hell in Iraq, and the reasons are what he set forth in his, supposedly "off the record", speech. The bushistas cheaped out on Iraq. They wanted a quick and dirty win for *'s bogus war on terrorism meme, plus the Iraqi oil and Halliburton exploitation riches. Bremer was almost assassinated, at least once. Maybe the guy feels like its pay back time now. Whatever, his proclamation works to our advantage enormously. Edwards tonight, and Kerry in the next two debates both need to use this gift to its maximum extent.

2. Already rummy is LYING about Bremer
But then, Bremer is just another one of them huge group of "disgruntled Republican employees".

so long.

4. It had to be deliberate.
Bremer is a 'ho, but I never thought he was stupid. He knows there's no such thing as "off the record," and it's likely that he's rolling on BushCo like so many other former Regime officals have done (e.g., O'Neill and Clarke). He might have even had a fit of conscience -- I have to believe that not all of the Regime whores are total sociopaths like their boss.

5. Maybe it's the blood
After all most oft them signed on for the great profits and the rosy glow, and bought into their participation being taken seriously on a constructive level. ALL people are tools for the pyramid tyranny that knows no concern for consequences, foreseeable or otherwise. People like O'Neill and Bremer or any GOP or business ideologue are merely a more advanced form of sucker, appalled at the oceans of blood and failure they
have signed on for while their opinions or authority carry zero weight in the WH.

Worse, they still claim to be loyal despite these naive, after the fact critiques and protests. Totally McCain. Partially Powell.

7. Good point. I'm sure that Bremer saw things most of us can't imagine
in our worst nightmares. He's also faced death for the scum he served, while they sat on their fat arses in Washington reaping Halliburton's profits.

6. Why didn't Bremer write a book? He actually PREDICTED 9/11, 7 mos
in advance. Remember this story from a few months ago? (This link actually still works, if you know a username and password for the L.A. Times:)

From http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-bremer3may03,1,3598879.story

'May 3, 2004

From Associated Press

BAGHDAD. L. Paul Bremer III, the U.S. administrator in Iraq, said Sunday that he regretted a statement he made more than six months before the Sept. 11 attacks that the Bush administration was "paying no attention" to terrorism. Bremer said any implied criticism that President Bush was not acting against terrorism was "unfair." Ahead of the November election, Bush is facing criticism he didn't make terrorism his No. 1 priority before the attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center, and then weakened the war on terrorism by invading Iraq and shifting the focus from Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda network. The resurfacing of Bremer's comments added to the administration's frustrations.

AT A MCCORMICK TRIBUNE FOUNDATION CONFERENCE ON TERRORISM ON FEB. 26, 2001, BREMER SAID, "THE NEW ADMINISTRATION SEEMS TO BE PAYING NO ATTENTION TO THE PROBLEM OF TERRORISM. What they will do is stagger along until there's a major incident and then suddenly say, 'Oh, my God, shouldn't we be organized to deal with this?' "That's too bad. They've been given a window of opportunity with very little terrorism now, and they're not taking advantage of it." Bremer made the speech after he had chaired the National Commission on Terrorism, a bipartisan body formed by the Clinton administration to examine counterterrorism policies.'

9. Maybe he will write one.
Among other things, his statement could be pre-publication panning.

20. Disclaimers ruin book
If he regrets his spot on afterthoughts and forethoughts when will he get it right about his present state of mind and not offend his masters?

8. This was definitely on purpose
Bremmer probably wants mercy when Kerry gets elected, the Dems win back the senate and they start prosecuting one by one members of BushCO.

10. Keith Olbermann reported on Bremer's little statement
tonight. He, also, reported that almost immediately after the press started reporting Bremer's statement Bremer came out and said he wasn't on the record. Olbermann ran with that. Bremer has made that statement at least four times in the last month in front of groups as large as 300. Keith wanted Bremer to explain how could he NOT think he was on the record? Just so much smoke to cover his ass.

I think the "party" guys who have been left twisting in the wind over the mess this entire administration has created is having a little bit of fun right now. * and Cheney have dreamed up all of these grand designs for world domination but have let their toadies take the heat. Payback is hell.

14. saywhat, it's all about the timing, no?
One has to wonder if Bremer really is signaling something.

There are others in government who have hinted in this way.

18. Speculation.
Maybe Bremmer actaully thought that he could do some good for Iraq but then found out that he was just another pawn in the Neo Fascist game. Just my impression from seeing him on TV many times that he wasn't a Bush Moonie but a person that was actually trying to do his job but was blocked in many ways. The Neo Fascists have a track record of screwing over anyone that doesn't lick their ass.

19. Interesting idea. I never heard of Bremmer before he was annointed
proconsul of Iraq. I just assumed he must have been one of the neocons to have landed such a plum (NOT) job.
