Ed Gillespie of RNC just handed us the BESTEST gift!!
He was speaking on NPR, regarding tonight's debate. He said (and I paraphrase closely). 'Cheney will continue to tout Bush's agenda for better schools, affordable health care, strong economy).

Here's the gift. Here is what the Democrats NEED to be saying. Bush has had FOUR YEARS! NOW is NOT the time for "PLANS" to get affordable health care, "PLANS" to give our children better schools, "PLANS" for a strong economy. Bush is the INCUMBENT!!! Has no one pointed out that Bush should be running on his RECORD? I mean.. I know that Kerry has been great about saying Bush's attacks are simply to hide his record of failure... but has anyone publicly STATED that there is something VERY WRONG if the incumbent is selling PLANS to make America better?? It's one thing to talk about his lack of success these past 4 years, it's another to give the American voters that "Aha!!" moment when they say, 'hey.. wait a minute, why is he talking about PLANS again? What happened to his promises and his accomplishments??".

Am I making sense? It's just we need to beware of any incumbent that runs on PLANS for future. THat's the CHALLENGER'S job!!

3. Yeah, no kidding --
they've been running a challenger's campaign all this time, as if they didn't have a GOP senate and a GOP congress to carry out all thier destructive crap. 'Remember 9/11!' -- what I remember is that Bush* and Cheney were President and VP on 9/11! What the hell kind of a thing is that to remind people of?

Kerry actually said this in Springfield, Ohio -- that they were running as if they hadn't been in charge for the last four years, and they got a clean slate as soon as the campaign season started. I think he should point this up again where he'll get a little more coverage, though, you're right. It's an excellent point.

13. You make a good point, one I've been saying for awhile...
Why has * been called a master debater? Because he has always been the challenger! He has always been the one to make big promises. He has not had to run on a record before...now he has to, and it ain't pretty!

7. We need to take his past promises and rip him on them
"I'm a uniter not divider"
"No nation building"
"I'm the education president"
"I wouldn't go to war without seeking approval from the UN"
"Together, guided by a spirit of common sense, common courtesy and common goals, we can unite and inspire the American citizens"
"Together we will save Social Security and renew its promise of a secure retirement for generations to come"
"Together we will strengthen Medicare and offer prescription drug coverage to all of our seniors."
"Together we'll have a bipartisan foreign policy true to our values and true to our friends, and we will have a military equal to every challenge and superior to every adversary."
"When America uses force in the world, the cause must be just, the goal must be clear, and the victory must be overwhelming."

8. Vote for Bush
so he can finish the work he never started. Jon Stewart said that on a Daily Show.

Bush's lack of accomplishments shosuld be a rallying cry for Dems.

9. Total sense...
... Bush* has been given damn near carte blanc by Congress. Yet, he's accomplished very little.

In particular, his vaunted tax cut was going to stimulate the economy. If I were Edwards I'd ask - "how long is this stimulus package going to take to produce results? Three years is a long time - it's done nothing so far, why should I believe it will ever do anything? The fact is, you don't stimulate a consumer-based economy by giving tax cuts to the rich. This is a demand-side problem, not a supply-side problem."

That was fun :)

10. A few more key talking points....
9-1-1 happened on *'s watch! Obviously, we will be safer when * is out of office. He has tried to turn one of our greatest tragedies and one of the most profound failures of a sitting president into a position of strength for himself...media and public asleep at the switch for allowing this to happen.

Another key point - best indicator of future behavior and future occurrences is someone's past behavior and occurrences....so, 4 more years of the failings of * will be as bad as if not worse than the previous 4. THERE IS NO REASON TO BELIEVE IT WOULD BE ANY DIFFERENT. This is common sense, but, again, asleep at the wheel!

11. It's the shell game they've been playing for four years
All of a sudden now they have more plans. Uh excuse me, who was the President for the last 4 years asshole?

You have to run on what you're going to do, when you can't run on what you didn't do. So bye bye Bush. And remember the door opens..out.

12. Dear American,
Is your child's school better?

Is your health care more affordable?

Are you better off financially?

Four years and out.

Fuggedaboudit, Mr. Ed.
