TALKING POINTS

Edwards:

Edwards showed real strength and conviction; he was in command of the facts and in control of the debate – he was a powerful advocate for John Kerry.

It’s clear John Kerry made the right choice. The American people saw John Edwards as somebody who would be ready to be President of the United States.

Edwards made it clear he’d be a fighter for the middle class. He and Kerry offer hope for a fresh start in Iraq to finish the job, and a commitment to hunt and kill the terrorists.

Edwards forced Cheney to confront his record of failure. Edwards told America the truth about the economy, Iraq and the war on terror.

Cheney:

Cheney is totally out of touch with reality in Iraq. He’s totally out of touch with the struggles of the middle class. He has a lifetime record of protecting the powerful and well-connected.

Cheney came across smug, arrogant, mean and defensive. His trademark distortions and scare tactics didn’t work. Edwards refused to let him play the politics of fear.

Americans are tired of growls and scowls from our leaders, and Edwards and Kerry offer hope and optimism.

Cheney and Bush refuse to admit mistakes and failure, despite the chaos. They can’t fix Iraq or the economy because they refuse to see the mess they’ve created. Tonight you saw the past vs. the future; hope vs. fear; more-of-the-same vs. a fresh start.

2. All available online polls except AOL
show Edwards winning by a huge landslide. Only on AOL is it close: Edwards 52%, Cheney 48%. I voted on all the ones listed as currently available.

3. Yes, we saw the contrasts:
as in "Hope is on the way!" vs. "Go F*** Yourself! Or bend over and we'll do it for you."

This is how Clinton whipped Bob Dole in 1996, and it more than applies here!

5. GREAT debate moment for Edwards:
Edwards: I don't think the country can take 4 more years of this kind of experience.

6. A great talking point is about that big-time doozy of a lie Cheney made:
the one where he said he never made any comments that Iraq & 9-11 were connected.

That had to be the BIGGEST LIE ever and I hope that the Kerry campaign uses that for a campaign commericial. Because a simple google will find Cheney quoted several times stating that Iraq was involved with 9-11 and/or Al Qaeda.

10. Cheney, the senile member of the ticket
His memory is going. That's why he keeps repeating the Saddam Al-Qaeda canard. He forgets its a ridiculous fabrication.

Time to send the old codger to a geezer gulag.

8. don't forget another point
Edwards never had to win this debate. He only had to prove to the american people he was capable of leading and going up against Cheney. Edwards also held Cheney accountable for the misleading of a nation.

9. Another point:
I thought this Edward's line said it all; the bolding is mine:

They want to know that their president and their vice president will keep them safe. They want to know that they have good judgment. And they want to know that you'll tell them the truth.

Bush/Cheney lose on all three counts.
