Well there's 90 minute of my life lost forever
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 10:13 PM by Perky
Inside chatter only:

It was a boring draw. No one moved anyone in any direction. Repukes will say in an honest moment, that Cheney held his own.. and Dems will say Edwards came off as credible.

All in all it was a yawner....IMHO. Although this is the VP race. its supposed to be boring and forgettable.

Outside chatter:

Cheney just refuses to accept blame for anything and Edwards kicked his well-heeled Haliburton fat-ass to the curb and down the street a couple of blocks.

3. agree
A draw - and a boring one. I kept on tuning out as they were talking, especially Cheney.

And I'm a politics junky, not usually bored by this stuff.

4. Cheney ducked every substantive question. Edwards answered every
question. Cheney made the mistake of dragging out the tired old,"Wrong War, wrong place..." and it sank like a stone again. :hi:

6. I don't diagree
but it was a completely forgettable night.

Cheney probably should be given the slight win on point...if only for being a loyalist and helpping to reassure the base.

5. My attention wandered...
Edwards did OK, but TinMan kept up with that "So when did you stop beating your wife?" bullshit, and it's hard to defend against that.

And what is it with PBS moderators? The candidates "rehearse", why can't the moderators?

9. Odd you guys/gals should feel this way as many I'm with enjoyed the debate
Edwards was refreshing and more than held his own, positively speaking directly to,
and reaching a majority of the american people viewing it!

12. Well, it sure seems that way...
I thought Edwards did OK, but failed to put that nasty TinMan in his place. Imagine my surprise (pleasant) to wake up today and hear that most sources gave the win to John.

TinMan was perceived as "Nasty" and "Mean-spirited", CBS claims Edwards "got to him", and NPR took some of TinMan's lies aprt one-by-one (Shocking!)

Maybe he was too subtle. I was TRYING to put on the objectivity filter, and perhaps by doing that failed to give John a fair shake. He had a MUCH better presence than TinMan, at least he didn't cover his own mike and muffle himself.

Guess I was waiting for Crash-Cart to "Code" right on stage....

10. Edwards lacked killer soundbytes
But had a nice closer and did not in anyway hurt Kerry, only helped him. Even if it was not as much as some could hope for.

VP debates are supposed to be reassuring. No one votes for the #2 and the debate between beep candidates are supposed to be boring...other than Stockdale (who?) and Bentsen's humbling of Quayle it is expected to be boring stuff and I think that is what we got.
