FOX News distorting their reporting of distortions in the debate
Debate Fact Check

Edwards said the connection between Saddam (search) and the terrorist network was minimal or nonexistent; Cheney asserted Saddam's Iraq "had an established relationship with Al Qaeda."

Edwards NEVER said either "minimal" or "non-existent"!

2. Come on, folks!
Jump on this! Spread the word.

This would be the third provable FOX News lie in less than a week!

3. he said "tenuous at best".. and he was clear about that.
I found it so cool that as Cheney was lying about this, Yahoo front page had the first story as CIA FINDS NO LINK TO SADDAM/AL QUAIDA.

4. You might want to check the transcript, because I recall
Edwards saying something similar to that.

7. I found this in a 30 second follow up by Edwards
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 11:54 PM by leftbehind
"Had they had time to do their job, they would have discovered what we now know, that in fact Saddam Hussein had no weapons, that in fact Saddam Hussein has no connection with 9/11, that in fact Saddam Hussein has little or no connection with al Qaeda."

I found it on the MSNBC site. I'll grant you that the specific words "minimal" and "non-existant" were not used, but Fox was likely paraphrasing, and the difference in meanings to me is not a clear lie.

8. Why play into their game?
Fight back with their tactics.

Stick to the words spoken.

They want to play games with "global test"? Fight back against FOX and their lies!

6. semantics is important here
one important thing that hasn't been addressed here is the use of the term "terrorist network." That makes it a blatant distortion, since Edwards referred only to the nonexistence of ties between Iraq and Al Qaeda, Saddam and Al Qaeda.

Anyone who didn't catch that isn't any more informed than your average Fox viewer.
