after 90 minutes, I conclude that Cheney just looked TIRED
Did you notice that at the end of the debate, Edwards jumped up and was full of energy but Cheney took a long moment to even think of getting out of his chair. He looked tired and old most of the time. He spoke in a quiet, emotionless drone. He went on and on and on.

Were Americans surprised to see how energyless he was? Maybe so.

1. I also noticed
how after sometimes he made a statement he sighed like "here I go again..."

2. Cheney was that way through the entire debate. I have said that in
several threads now buts like people didn't notice that the man did not look well, was lisless and at times seem bored out of his mind.

10. Repug Problem...
Despite being on heart-attack watch, Cheney sounded more presidential than Bush.

Edwards sounded and looked better than Bush.

Cheney outshining Bush is bad for Bush.

3. Yes, why didn't he get up?
Was he that tired? Or did he not want to be seen standing beside Edwards (the height thing)? Or did he just not want to shake hands, yet Edwards did anyway?

It looked very strange for him to be sitting during the ending handshake.

4. I agree, I noticed this too. At about the one hour mark, Cheney seemed
to hunch over and he seemed less sharp mentally. He looked and acted tired. And at the end of the debate, he took a LONG time to get up from his chair. I was also surprised how overweight he is. I always thought of him as stocky, but not as grossly overweight as he appeared. That can't be good for his heart.

6. four heart attacks and a daily schedule of EVIL will do that....
Ask around tomorrow at work or elsewhere and find out how many people around you know Cheney and Edwards are only 12 years apart.

My friend guessed over 20 years...shocked to hear 12.

13. I noticed that too
In watching the first 2 debates and seeing how little energy Bush and Cheney have in defending themselves when the shining light of truth is put on their administration I get the feeling that, deep down inside, intimately knowing how much they F**ked up across the board, they really don't want the job anymore.

I could very well be wrong but I sense a hint of resignation in both of them. They probably also know their own grassroots base is not energized because many rank and file republicans have problems with the top of the ticket too.

This won't stop Rove from unleashing his Dogs from Hell on Kerry/Edwards but the momentum of this election in the final stretch is clearly going to Kerry’s way.

14. Everything else aside, he IS a very sick man.
People with pacemakers and heart conditions as serious as his are not healthy. I can't imagine doing any of the work he's doing with a ticker on the fritz.

I think we'll see a look of relief on his face come the evening of November 2.
