Does anybody think that the Kerry Edwards ticket will get a boost in poll numbers from the debate with crashcart tonight?

1. he'll stay even, maybe small uptick |
|
it may be tough to tell, the next debate is Friday and by then the polls might not fully detect any movement in the race because of the Cheney/Edwards debate.
After Kerry gets through with Bush on Friday, Cheney-Edwards will seem like ancient history.

2. It depends on the spinners because although Cheney lied even more |
|
than the chimp, he is a more effective liar. Our guys (and us) need to debunk all the previously debunked lies Cheney told tonight, otherwise it may break even.

5. It certainly won't hurt him |

Edwards did whatever was necessary. He called Cheney on his own dreadful record. He made it clear that Cheney's experience is not necessarily a positive.
I don't understand how anyone (at least on this board) can really believe Edwards lost.

6. It was an important debate |
|
because it helped define the difference between Kerry and Bush. I don't think this debate will change any numbers but I think it will set the table for Kerry at the next two debates. Cheney, as usual, put out lots of facts that are really lies or at the very least twisted truthes. I think we need to point these out between now and Friday to try and get the point across that these guys are just lying weasels. I'm working on my LTTE right now.

ABCNews poll gives Kerry/Edwards a 2-point bounce. Bush-Cheney's numbers went down after the debate.
CBSNews poll gave Edwards a 41-29 advantage among undecided voters, a huge advantage among women and over 50% of undecideds said that their impressions of Edwards improved, compared to only 29% for Cheney.
Edwards went up against an evil, tough, smart, highly-favored opponent - on the opponent's favored turf - and still came out ahead. His job was much, much tougher than Kerry's.
Now, Kerry is well positioned to go into Friday's debate against Bush on the solid foundation laid by Edwards tonight.

The lie is going to hurt. It's likely to start negative buzz for the Republicans, and Bush started enough of that last week.
Edwards convincingly demonstrated he is presidential material, which, aside from avoiding falling flat on his face, was all he needed to do.

9. Small or not much, but he won't lose any ground |
|
This is a VP debate, and almost deliberately downplayed.
That said, Cheney showed himself to be a very angry, vampiric, uncharismatic sort of asshole tonight, in stark contrast to the lively, human, compelling Edwards. Certainly, the substance of the debate such as it was will fade over the next few days, and all people will have to go on is their overall impressions. Edwards got a couple points for that one.

10. A lot of folks will wait until after the last debate to state their |
|
opinion. A lot of other folks don't like to admit that the debate has made any difference maybe because it makes them seem shallow and uninformed.
So I don't think we'll see a lot of changes in the polls.

Edwards did a very good job of pointing out the differences and did it in a way they was likable. He didn't have to demolish Cheney to give the ticket a boost. Once he proved he could think on his feet and had reasonable answers to all the questions, he passed the test.
This also sets up Bush* for another pounding from Kerry. Cheney didn't help Bush* at all--he's still vulnerable on every attack line Edwards used.
We should see a small, but lasting poll boost from this. Another great day for our side!!!!!
