2. Nope, not nearly as well (or as easily) as he could have....
it's the one word slip that Kerry made that has come back to hurt.... wrong choice of words.... Edwards just mucked it up more

the debate that nobody should have veto power over the US acting to defend itself.

They'd rather spin an unclear statement than address a very clear statement which contradicts their spin -- a statement which Kerry made moments before the "global test" remark.

5. Not really
When I heard Kerry say it last week, what I understood was this:

The global SMELL test. If you don't have the moral highground, and can't convince your allies of that fact, then you're screwed.
